Last week LAist took MTV up an opportunity to hang out at Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory, a 25,000 square foot complex which is home to Rob's business empire Dyrdek Enterprises and the setting for his reality show, which enters its second season tonight at 9pm. To celebrate the new season, Rob along with the cast of "Nitro Circus" and "Bully Beatdown" (season two of both premiere tonight as well) got together for a Tuesday afternoon of Velcro suit dirt bike jumping and other various shenanigans that most human beings wouldn't dare to try.

In 2004, ESPN launched a network dedicated to broadcasting sports-related programming 24 hours a day in the Spanish language - ESPN Deportes. To celebrate the its five year anniversary, the network recently announced the launch of ESPN Deportes Replay, a multimedia campaign that will give fans the opportunity to program the network for three consecutive weeks.

It was a warm summer day in Carson, and people were jammed like sardines on the grounds of the Home Depot Center. With the festivities sold out Saturday, people were outright giddy walking into the grounds in anticipation for the excitement contained withing.

X Games 14 are in full effect at the Staples Center and Home Depot Center. It’s the time of year when Orange County crap punk bands and their spinoffs see royalties to the xtreme. And it’s the time when I try to understand what’s going on but just score an epic fail with all the jargon and loopdy-doos.

Can you believe it's already July 31? Well, here's a few interesting items tonight to celebrate the end of the month:

Got a bit more of a schedule tonight: the Winter X Games are starting up, and there's a bunch of stuff at 8:00pm. I was sick on Sunday so I'm looking forward to catching the rebroadcast of Breaking Bad on AMC.

So at first this was going to be a whole “Chronicle in the Life of a Hollywood Hipster” type of deal. But let's face it. I'm not a hipster, I am hip (in the non-sarcastic, semi-sincere sense), but definitely not a Hollywood Hipster. I hate Hollywood hipsters. Even more than that, I hate Silverlake/Los Feliz hipsters. You know them, they take themselves way too seriously with their severe haircuts and super tight pants. Bastards. Anywho,...

Rally champion Colin McRae dies with son in helicopter crash. McRae participated in the last two X-Games, rolling his car both times at the Home Depot Center. He last competed here on August 5th, his birthday by the way. Complete with an interactive map, Daily News finds that Pedestrian vs. Automobile accidents are high in the Valley. (Author's note: after being hit by a car in a hit and run when I was legally...

I admit it. I am a closeted adrenaline junkie. So when I heard that I would be able to go see the X Games this past weekend if I attended a press event for ASEC (Action Sports Environmental Coalition), I just about wet my pants. Actually, I wet them a little bit. ASEC is an initiative to establish an environmental standard for the action sports industry as a whole, not just for the X...

He's not old enough to drink (legally), but Shaun White landed his first gold medal in the Summer X Games here in Los Angeles. It should look nice next to his silver from two years ago, not to mention the six gold, three silver, and one bronze from the winter editions. And that Olympic gold medal. Can't forget that one....

Angels 4, A's 3 - The NorCal-SoCal rivalry is heating up in the junior circuit. Oakland and LAnaheim split the four game series, but not without a some players getting beaned (or close to it). In the final game, the Angels got three of their RBIs from Garret Anderson, who is not one of the three Halos to get hit this year. Vladamir Guerrero almost became the fourth victim on Sunday on a pitch that...

The Donna's @ The X Games - Honda Center, 2:30pm, $5 VHS or Beta, Gran Ronde @ The Troubadour The Slits, The Icarus Line @ El Rey Rick Springfield, John Waite @ The Gibson Gravy Train, Mika Miko, Sugar & Gold @ The Echo Unwritten Law, Zebrahead, Bullets & Octane, Bangkok Five @ Key Club Earthless, RTX, Entrance, Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound, Titan @ Safari Sam's The Mutaytor, DJ Wolfie, Blue, Porter Tinsley...

Aussie Jake Brown decided to drop in on the X Games here in LA. In fact, he dropped 50 feet straight down onto a hard surface, landing so hard that both his shoes popped off of his feet. This is NOT a good video for people with weak stomachs. Amazingly, Jake walked away. We still aren't sure how. By the way, a couple seconds before the crash he actually landed the first 720 ever...

Giants 4, Dodgers 2 - Maybe it's better this way. If Barry had tied (or passed) Hank Aaron in Chavez Ravine, it would have been the second time the Dodgers gave up the record breaking shot (yup, Hammerin' Hank hit 715 against the Boys in Blue). That's not to mention the riot that would have ensued. This isn't exactly the most hospitable town for any Giant, much less that Giant. It was a bigger game...

Giants 3, Dodgers 1 - Barry Bonds surprisingly was all smiles despite a bitter reception at Chavez Ravine. While he didn't tie Hammerin' Hank for the career home run title, he did reach base on two walks and scored a run. Brad Penny allowed all three runs in six innings for just his second loss of the year. Baseball royalty on hand included Tommy Lasorda, Bud Selig, and Alyssa Milano. Wait, did we just write...

It seems like, all across the network, folks were up to no good. Maybe it was all the green beer from last weekend...

Tonight - Friday - January 26th, 2007 Paris (the City) Marathon - Paris, When It Sizzles / An American In Paris / To Paris, With Love (TCM, 5:00 p.m.) A mental vacation for you. Winter X Games (ESPN, 6:30 p.m.) Skiing, men's Superpipe final, Snowmobile SnoCross Women's Final - the Australian Open (ESPN2, 6:30 p.m.) It's Sharapova vs Serena Kings @ Canucks (PRIME, 7:00 p.m.) Charlie Rose (PBS, 11:30 p.m.) Oscar nominees Dame Helen...

A Word or 51: So last night it was either Klaus Kinski or American Idol - they're both abject and base pornography but Kinski won. Get home early today to check out the Winter X Games; other than some The Office reruns the CW seems to have the most new programming but that's not saying much. Tonight - Thursday - January 25th, 2007 The Caddy (TCM, 5:00 p.m.) Classic Jerry Lewis & Dean Martin...

One of the best photographers over at Buzznet also dj's once a month at the Arsenal. SX70 on Buzznet, responsible for the incredible motorcycle photo earlier today on LAist and other snaps from this year's X Games is Smoovebert tonight at the Arsenal on Pico in West LA at 9pm. Submarines @ Spaceland Metal Skool @ Key Club Baron Von Sloth @ Safari Sam's Wolfgang Bang @ Lava Lounge Building a Better Spaceship @...

Wait... the X-Games are over? Didn't they just start? WTF EXPN? We blinked and all those underground athletes who flip their motorcycles and bmx bikes and skateboards are gone? Where was the parade through the city like the circus used to do? Where were the banners from the light poles? We knew more about King Tut being here than we did Shaun White & Co. More people talk about the rain when it appears...

That's right. Badminton's greatest prize (outside of the Olympic Games) will be awarded this week at The Pond. All of this is part of the great work done recently by the LA Sports Council, which has been working to bring major sporting events to SoCal in an effort to raise our international sports profile.

This particular LAist writer admits to being more of a traditional sports fan, than an X Games fan, but we're thrilled to see that Los Angeles has cemented itself as the X Games city of America. AEG, ESPN, and X Games have signed a deal to keep the Xtreme event here through 2009.

Are you ready for the X Games X? Well, it doesn't matter, because it's here! For the second straight year, the X Games are taking place at STAPLES Center, making LA the new Extreme Sports capital of the world.
