The TV Junkie braved the stunning heat last Sunday to put on a monkey suit and attend the red carpet ceremonies at the Gibson Amphitheater for the 2009 TV Land Awards. This event is a favorite of TV fans as it's an opportunity to see the creators and talent of some of the best TV from ages past, most of whom are also involved in current TV projects as well.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Hasbro and Universal have announced a new collaboration, "Monolpoly", the movie. The project will be produced and possibly directed by Ridley Scott. In a time when foreclosures are on the front page of every newspaper, it will be fascinating to see how screenwriter Scott and Pamela Pettler adapt the iconic real-estate board game into a big screen extravaganza. "Monopoly" has also found a new home in video games with the EA's recent release of "Monopoly" for Wii, PS2, PS3, and Xbox. Several other board game to the big screen projects are in development. Of the small amount that was still there and awaiting to be moved, it had already been digitized so the music will still be around for many years." -- Billboard

Today news broke that Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski is slated to direct the film adaptation of Bioshock, widely heralded as the best video game of 2007. This comes at an especially interesting time considering parent company Take Two Interactive (also parent to Rockstar Games, which just released a little title called Grand Theft Auto IV) turned down a multi-billion dollar buy-out offered by LA-based Electronic Arts earlier this year.

Sometimes, even in the middle of the night, when the smoke hasn't yet cleared, when the beer is almost through, and when the girls have nearly stopped giggling, you still are capable of spotting bullshit. This morning LAist was watching The Miss Teen USA pageant on TiVo. Don't ask. Even though the incredibly cheesy and wrong telecast didn't hold our attention for very long, for some reason a commercial during the broadcast for the...
