Tonight the Grammys, "a broken system of old white men voting for music they’ve never heard or understood," will be taking place in Downtown at the Staples Center. LA-based pop singer-songwriter/producer extraordinaire Ne-Yo is poised to perform the second sold-out night of his two-date stint at Club Nokia. Prolific Bay Area punk rockers NOFX will be concluding a non-consecutive three-date stint at the Henry Fonda Music Box. And speaking of punk rock outfits, Long Beach's own TSOL are slated to annihilate onlookers at the Echoplex. But we strongly suggest heading over to Home Restaurant in Silverlake to catch jazz-infused pop duo Alex & Sam (LAist Interview, Review).

              

Our previous photo essay from the Warped Tour left some people feeling incomplete. "Where are the pictures from the Old School Stage?", underground music enthusiasts asked. Well, here's the deal. Old School is so cool, it requires it's very own story. In fact, Old School IS the story and many people, young and old understand that. The Old School has a message to send because it speaks to the spirit of DYI culture.

              

Going to the Warped Tour is kinda like a combination between going to Disneyland and Las Vegas in the same day. A crowd of people, young and old converged upon Home Depot Center in Carson for the final show of the tour then scattered in all directions once the gates opened. The choices included watching a live band at one of nine stages or visiting one of many swap meet style vendor booths to buy merchandise, get stuff signed or pick up a bag of free stuff. Of course there was a skate ramp and free Monster drinks were made available to all, including the super-strain of the beverage: "Assault" an appropriate one-word explanation for what would take place over the next 9 hours (story continued below photo gallery).
