Seven Questions with...Diana Miller, Talent Executive - 'Last Call with Carson Daly'

LA has a diverse cast of characters. Whether it's the characters with stirring stories or interesting occupations or the people who are just simply characters, this town has them all. In an effort to get to know some of those characters a little better, we've created "Seven Questions with..."

We Can Haz Coachella Line-Up!

Your sleepless nights of anxiously awaiting an official announcement are over. After a plethora of postponements, swirling rumors and premature prattle, the 2009 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival roster is finally here.

A sad week for LAist as they lose their trusted and amazing editor Tony Pierce to the LA Times, but what a blast his last week was. He shared his 25 Favorite CDs of 2007 and wrote a great review of just a good movie, No Country For Old Men. At UCLA, thousands of students celebrated the end of their quarter by running around campus in their undies (lots of photos in a two-part photo essay, one, two). That wasn't the only photo essay either: Joss Whedon/Mutant Enemy friends and Star Trek actors all joined in at the Writers Strike and KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas brought two nights of amazing bands that included Avenged Sevenfold, Linkin Park (Part I), Modest Mouse, Muse, Spoon and The Killers (Part II). Not only is L.A. a great music town, it has just been named the best city for bookish types. For those who are looking for something a little more active, American Gladiators are back (yes!) and if that's not enough, how about a Christmas gift of action and adventure?

One look at the bill for Night Two of KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas one might think with all of the INDIE flavor that that LA's "other" rock station was behind the programming. But alas it was KROQ and Night Two featured great performances by Modest Mouse, Muse, Feist, Silversun Pickups, Jimmy Eat World, Spoon and a surprise unannounced performance from the Killers.

To prepare for this interview, I scoured my closet for my pair of unwashed lucky socks, put on some Dog the Bounty Hunter ondemand, and tried to ignore the fact that his girlfriend is "shnacky", as I like to say. Yucko the Clown is a regular guest on "The Howard Stern Show", a stand-up comic, and the co-creator of The Damn Show later 'ported' to MTV2 as Stankervision. Currently he's touring with the Killers...

Earlier this week we had interviews with the Rev. Bob Levy, Miss Howard TV model Stephanie Petruso, and we touched base with Greg Fitzsimmons. Today we say Hey Now with Richard Christie's bff and emotional friend, Sal. Sal The Stockbroker is performing at the Avalon tonight in LA with the Killers of Comedy (Rev. Bob Levy, Jim Florentine, Richard Christy, Shuli, Yucko the Clown, Beetlejuice & The Iron Sheik). If you're a chick, leave...

Will the real reverend please stand up. The Reverend Bob Levy and his collective of stand-up comics known as the Killers of Comedy (Rev. Bob Levy, Jim Florentine, Sal Governale, Richard Christy, Shuli, Yucko the Clown, Beetlejuice & The Iron Sheik), are coming to the Avalon and even Hollywood will notice. Bob is a regular on "The Howard Stern Show", is a professional comedian, has horrible spelling skills, and lives with in the basemen...

Destiny's Child vs The Cardigans - "My Favorite Name" About a year and a half ago we introduced you to Indie's mashup DJ Paul V. as he was celebrating the one-year anniversary of Bootie LA, the monthly dance party fueled by the current day's mashups. Since then Bootie LA has moved from the Echo to Safari Sam's but the party hasn't missed a step. Matter of fact, tonight Bootie LA is welcoming French mashup...

Soaked in blood and reeking with suspense "L.A. Rex" is set in South Central Los Angeles, and is about cops, crips, rappers, and "are the killers of El Eme's tax collectors carrying an oval badge?"

Although they always have pretty good lineups, San Diego's Street Scene never seems to get our attention. Until now. Today they announced that The Killers, Muse, Panic! at the Disco, Social Distortion, Air, Arctic Monkeys, Too $hort, G. Love, The Editors, The Academy Is..., Clap Your Hands And Say Yeah, Gym Class Heroes, Mute Math, Honeycut, Ozomatli and others will play their two day festival down by the ocean in Del Mar, but what...

Now that the dust has settled out in Indio, the world famous KROQ today announced its lineup for its annual spring fling, and just like any weenie roast there are some dogs in the bunch. So the question is, is it worth it to venture down behind the Orange Curtain and put up with annoying high schoolers in order to see The Killers, Bad Religion, Rise Against, Social D, Tim Armstrong and the Silversun...

It's been far too long since Angelenos have been able to enjoy a proper media circus, and thats why starting March 19th, the Phil Spector murder trial is set to begin, televised for our viewing pleasure. After months of postponements and more than four years after actress Lana Clarkson was found dead from a gunshot wound in his Alhambra mansion, Spector will finally have his day in court. The sixty-six year old Spector achieved success...

When the lineup for the Diamonds ‘07 tour was announced this past January, it may have left some indie and electronic music aficionados scratching their heads. In its first year of what will become an annual event, Diamonds ’07, sponsored by MTV Urge and Puma, featured a split-bill between indie-electro favorites MSTRKRFT and Mega-Superstar DJ Digweed. Although both acts are founded on the general groundwork of “music to dance to,” until recently, Digweed and MSTRKRFT each had its own audience belonging to separate subcultures, released tracks and albums depicting dance music’s subgenres, and performed at venues belonging to non-intersecting music scenes.

A Word or 24(!): Don't forget Jake Gyllenhaal hosting "SNL" on Saturday, and then on Sunday the season premieres of "24" (Fox, 8:00 p.m.) and "Rome" (HBO, 9:00 p.m.). Tonight - Friday - January 12, 2007 "The Killers" (TCM, 7:15 p.m.) Burt Lancaster and Ava Gardner star in this '46 noir classic. Magic @ Lakers (Fox Sports, 7:30 p.m.) "Ghost Whisperer" (CBS, 8:00 p.m.) What more can be said about an episode entitled "Deja...

OK so last night's Colbert/Decembrist Green Screen thing wasn't such a great premise but the line-up was incredible. Due to non-existent new programming somebody here suggested that I occupy my time with porn, but this is the TV Junkie spot, not the Porn Junkie spot, I'm not sure that the LAist editorial staff want that to happen yet, and no one has stepped forward to start supplying me with said porn yet either --...

With the robust music scene here in the City of Angels, LAist always tries to keep you abreast of all the talent to grace our local venues, in particular the diamonds in the rough that don’t necessarily have the name recognition of a Top 40 act but still maintain the purity of their musical genius. There’s another group of performers that doesn’t get often mentioned but is also a vital part of the musical...

Everyone was eagerly awaiting the Killers' new record, but Evanescence came out of nowhere to nab the top spot on the Billboard Top 200 album chart this week. Their fourth album "The Open Door" is their first time debuting at #1 and they beat out some pretty strong competition.

Topping the list is a horrifyingly bizarre history of the Sunset Junction area. Including a robbery in the '20s of someone who was sporting some fresh old school grillz.

8. 3900 Sunset: November 9, 1928- A bald-headed man with a mouth full of golden choppers held up the California Bank today, with the aid of a less dramatic-looking associate, to the tune of $4,000. This is the fifth robbery at this particular branch in 18 months, including a notable incident last November, when a dapper (yet toothless) youngster appropriated $3,000 and fled in a stolen green limousine. (Shaken tellers showed no preference for gold teeth over missing ones.) - LA Alternative
