Tonight In Rock: Bob Dylan, Mae, Mariachi El Bronx, Maserati

Tonight iconic folk rock singer-songwriter Bob Dylan will be kicking off a three-night stint at the Hollywood Palladium. Norfolk-bred indie rock outfit Mae are poised to headline the Roxy. And, lastly, local hard rockers the Bronx will be performing mariachi songs for free at La Cita under their newfangled pseudonym Mariachi El Bronx, of course. But we strongly suggest heading over to the El Rey Theatre to catch Athens-based post-rock instrumentalists Maserati, who will be kicking things off for none other than Japanese instrumental rock act Mono.

Tonight In Rock: Razorlight, Miranda Lee Richards, Greg Laswell, Little Boots

Tonight Anglo-Swedish rockers Razorlight will be headlining a sold-out show at the Troubadour with locals Red Cortez in tow. San Franciscan-bred singer-songwriter Miranda Lee Richards is kicking off a month-long residency at Spaceland. And, lastly, LAist favorites Whispertown 2000 (LAist Interview, Review, #2) will be performing at the Hotel Café with San Diegan singer-songwriter Greg Laswell (LAist Interview, Review, #2, #3, #4, #5). But we strongly recommend heading over to Cinespace to catch English electro-pop sensation Little Boots.

Tonight English pop rock sensation Keane (LAist Review) will be stopping through the Roxy. Vancouver-based singer-songwriter Bryan Adams (LAist Review) is headlining the Wiltern. Local producer/musician extraordinaire Jon Brion (LAist Review) is performing one set only at the Largo at the Coronet, of course. LA-based hard rock outfit the Bronx are slated to perform at the Echo with LBC's Crystal Antlers (LAist Review). LAist favorites the Submarines (LAist Interview) will headline the Echoplex. And, lastly, the hilarious dudes in Trainwreck—featuring Kyle Gass of Tenacious D (LAist Interview)—will be rocking out on the tiny stage at El Cid. But we strongly suggest heading over to Spaceland to catch local singer-songwriter Robert Francis (LAist Interview), who will be doling out folk-infused ditties all night long.

The Key Club gets top billing tonight because The Bronx headlines a benefit for Wheels for Humanity, which supplies wheelchairs. Also on the bill : Chuck Ragan (ex-Hot Water Music) with members of Flogging Molly, and some rock star karaoke. Everyone will probably be there for either the ice skating or Great Northern, but The Submarines came out with a haunting CD that we played all summer long. Go downtown and ice skate from...

Fri 5/26 - Elefant / Voxtrot / Silversun Pickups @ the Wiltern ($20) – Elefant's new album, The Black Magic Show, is out on Hollywood Records. They've got a stylish front man with lots of swagger and they should appeal to fans of the Killers and She Wants Revenge. Silversun Pickups are getting ready to release their debut full-length, Carnavas, on Dangerbird Records on July 11th. The people who’ve heard it say it’s really good and that they’ve outdone their EP. Austin’s Voxtrot are definitely a band to keep your eye on. Their recent EP is full of infectious, early 80s, Smiths-style rock. They just toured the country with local heartthrobs, Irving. Download Voxtrot’s “Mothers, Sisters, Daughters and Wives

Mon 5/15 – The Bronx / Wires on Fire / Sabertooth Tiger @ Spaceland (Free) – Mondays are still free at Spaceland. This week you can see three loud, punk-inspired bands. The Bronx portray Black Flag in the new movie about Germs’ singer, Darby Crash. You can watch the trailer for that movie HERE. The Bronx and Wires on Fire will soon be on tour with Priestess and Riverboat Gamblers (they better have their game tight, because both of those bands are really good live). Sabertooth Tiger has a new album coming out next month on GSL.
