PaleyFest 2009 Preview: Battlestar Galactica, Dr. Horrible, True Blood, Pushing Daisies and More

This year's annual William S. Paley Television Festival (also known as PaleyFest) will feature some LAist favorites. The up close and personal television event is sponsored by the Paley Center for Media, and begins April 10 at the ArcLight Cinerama Dome. Tickets go on sale to the public Sunday at 9 a.m. and they're likely to sell out within 24 hours, if not sooner. Most PaleyFest events treat fans to clips from each program (sometimes never-before-seen material) and include a panel discussion with questions from a moderator and the audience. In addition, each panel page on the PaleyFest website now includes an option for fans to submit questions prior to the event. This year's lineup is a strong one and it features: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, 90210, True Blood, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, Dollhouse, The Big Bang Theory, The Mentalist, Desperate Housewives, Unaired Pushing Daisies Episodes, Battlestar Galactica, The Hills, Big Love, Fringe and Swingtown.

Variety reports that last night Fox dominated the ratings with "So You Think You Can Dance". It's not that this is an achievement for Fox, considering what a copycat and sub-par program "So You Think You Can Dance" is - just look at what it's up against: "Baby Borrowers" and reruns. A halfway decent idea on several nights of the week would trounce the dreck that is dished up on network TV. TV is losing viewership year over year? How can it not? Get ready for another dose of "So You Think You Can Dance" tonight. Thank goodness for Shark Week. How about "So You Think You Can Dance Your Way Out of This Shark Infested Pool?"

Tim Roth is set to star in a drama on Foxthat will be broadcast early in 2009 going along the lines of other film stars who are making forays into television (Glenn Close, Holly Hunter, etc.) - the drama, titled "Lie to Me", is based on the work of a real-life scientist who is able to read the human body and voice to determine if someone is being truthful. Fox is so behind this project that they've ordered a complete set of 13 episodes, if it flops there will still be a DVD.

Huffington Post reports that Michelle Obama will be guest host of "The View" on June 18th. Am not sure if being associated with that gaggle of harpies is a good thing or not but the Obama campaign is trying to achieve some parity with the McCains, both John and Cindy have been on the show repeatedly.
