It's that time of year again, when many LA residents (along with others from around the world) make the trek to Comic-Con in San Diego. Given that 125,000 people are attending the convention this year, navigating the Comic-Con exhibit hall is an event in itself. And although the main costume spectacle will take place during Saturday night's masquerade, today's crop didn't disappoint!

Earlier this week Michael Jackson and auctioneer Julien's reached an agreement to give all of the 1,400 items that were to be auctioned this week back to the King of Pop. While this agreement may have ruined your chances of owning the singer's bubble hockey game, gold throne, espresso machine or life-sized Darth Vader made out of Legos, it did not, however, put a stop to the public viewing exhibition taking place at the old Robinsons-May in Beverly Hills located next door to the Beverly Hilton.

TV Junkie: 'Battlestar Galactica' - Vaya Con Dios

Tonight marks the end of "Battlestar Galactica", for about 20 years until the geeks of the future resurrect it like they did the now-campy 1970s version. Some have complained that this final season swung the show onto a science-fiction track that was too science-fiction-y but the show had to return to its roots, its core, before wandering off into the cosmos.

TV Junkie: WGAs for TV; More 'Breaking Bad' Promo; Oscar Acceptance Speech Generator

Even though the majority of eyes are focused on Sunday's Oscars, this Saturday, the Writers Guild of America will be doling out their awards and a sampling of scuttlebutt with regards to TV leaders include "Mad Men", "30 Rock", "The Office", "The Wire", and "True Blood".

Box Office Review: America is Into You

An all-star cast was enough to propel newcomer He Only Wants To Sleep with You to the top of the weekend box-office. The generic romantic comedy tallied an impressive $27.4M to easily beat last week's champ Taken ($20.3/$53.3M). The superb Coraline managed to snag $16.3M worth of kiddie dollars as parents weren't scared away by the film's dark themes. After that it was the unnecessary and dreadful The Pink Panther 2 ($12M) followed by the equally boorish Paul Blart: Pathetic Fatso ($11M/$97M).

Here at LAist we love freebies as much as anyone. We like to give you the heads up about free breakfast, free cupcakes, free tickets and more. So when we heard that Disneyland was giving free tickets on your birthday, we thought the least we could do was go check it out.

Fans of Adult Swim's "Robot Chicken" have been eagerly anticipating this Sunday's premiere of "Star Wars: Episode II" at 11:30pm. Known as "TV for those with ADD", this brainchild of Seth Green and Matthew Senreich broadcast the first "Star Wars" special in June of 2007. This time they've recruited Billy Dee Williams, Carrie Fisher, Ahmed Best (Jar Jar Binks), Conan O'Brien, and many more to provide voices for the myriad of characters.

Now that the next President of the USA has been decided, we can focus on more important issues. Like who will be the next president of the GALAXY?!

It's been more than a month since The Dark Knight hit screens, yet it remained in the top five at number four grossing movies raking in $10.3 million dollars. Still at the top of their game, the offending-to-some Tropic Thunder came in first at $16.1 million with House Bunny trailing behind at $15.1 million. Death Race at number three did a decent $12.3 million, but rounding out the top five is Star Wars: The Clone Wars who only did $5.66 million.

After four weeks at the top of the box-office world, had a less than stellar debut ($15.5M) as fans continue to reject George Lucas' new vision of the historic saga.

, but because production was so hush-hush, he had to do it while not privy to any info on the film. So Geyer and his team brainstormed and came up with several ideas, only to have some of them turned down by Lucas afterwards because they involved creatures or concepts not relevant to the prequel (duh).

Like many fans of the original trilogy, I was relieved that the disaster of the "prequels" mercifully ended after .

Aside from being an incredible source for houses, hookers, haikus and everything in between, Craigslist can also a great source of entertainment. Reading through the listings under the personal section, especially "casual encounters" and "missed connections" can serve as a much needed distraction on one of those brutally boring days at the office. These sections may not always be the safest for the work environment, however. If your worried about The Man invading your Internet privacy, than take a stroll through the hidden gem of Craigslist entertainment that is the "Gigs" section.

I feel at home at hip hop shows. I am in my element. I am around people who love the same kind of music I love. This past Wednesday night, however, for the first time in my show-going life I was at a hip hop show as an outsider. Nerdcore rap was something that I had only vaguely heard of, all I knew of it was rap with a whole lot of references to...

Though my allegiance has switched over to the Landmark, many film lovers in Los Angeles regard the Arclight as the best multiplex in town. It programs studio pictures right alongside esoteric indies, it offers great concessions, its screenings are commercial-free and it schedules cool events with celebrated films and filmmakers. This Wednesday, tickets go on sale for one of those very events. In fact, this one may be the coolest in awhile. To celebrate...

We live in a beautiful age for nerds. Just like your favorite superheros, you can never be sure that something is dead. Star Wars returned after 20 years of relative inactivity (though it’s questionable whether or not that was a good idea). Jean Grey, though currently dead, has died in so many forms that it’s impossible to believe she won’t return. You can’t keep popular series like Buffy (or even unfairly unpopular series like...

There's only one network that would dare give you the raspberry: and that's G4TV, who will be premiering episodes of an animated "Spaceballs" this fall - you know, that Star Wars Mel Brooks parody you watched about seventy-six times in the 80's? Variety says: Encompassing a one-hour pilot and 13 half-hour episodes, project represents the first scripted series greenlit by the new TV division at MGM, led by Jim Packer, president of the worldwide...

After covering Wicked Wednesday, I realized that I didn't have to work until later that night. The PR person had said, "Just go wherever you want." I think she meant within the stage area, but I thought I'd wander around a little. The last time I went to Universal Studios they had just gotten Jaws, and they were still doing an avalanche with big cheesy-looking styrofoam boulders. I went on "Back to the Future"...

You can push them around, cancel their shows and laugh at their outfits until your face turns red... they just keep on Trekking. In the pantheon of rabid fan bases, you'd be hard-pressed to find a legion of fans as loyal as the Trekkies (excepting, of course, the Star Wars crowd). Notwithstanding the one above, you've probably already seen your fair share of Trekkie cosplay pictures, whether from Star Trek conventions, movie openings or...

Saturday we took our two daughters to LACMA to see the Dan Flavin exhibit. Flavin's known as one the of the pioneers of installation art. His sculptures are created from fluorescent bulbs and bathe each room in colorful rays of light. Translated by my kids- that means 'he's really cool!'. As my daughters explored the galleries, they gleefully exclaimed that one piece looked like a light saber while another reminded my three-year-old of a...

George Lucas is notoriously stringent when it comes to copyright and trademark issues, but it looks like the director has finally realized that remix is the aesthetic of the new millennium, or at least this first decade of it. The Wall Street Journal reported that Lucasfilm is taking approximately 250 clips from the various Star Wars movies and making them available to fans who want to download and use them in Internet mash-ups, re-mixes and...
