Sponsored Post: Pirate Radio, In Theatres Now

The following post is from our advertiser, Focus Features. Pirate Radio is the newest ensemble comedy from filmmaker Richard Curtis (screenwriter of Four Weddings and a Funeral and Notting Hill, and writer/director of Love Actually). This high-spirited film tells the story of 8 DJs whose love affair with Rock n Roll changed the world forever. In the 1960s a group of rogue DJs, on a boat in the middle of the Northern Atlantic, played rock records and broke the law all for the love of music. The songs they played united and defined an entire generation and drove the British government crazy. The band of rebels is lead by The Count, played by Academy Award Winner Philip Seymour Hoffman. Pirate Radio also stars Bill Nighy, Rhys Ifans, Nick Frost, Kenneth Branagh, and Tom Sturridge, and features an unbelievable selection of music including The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Kinks, Cream, and The Beach Boys, just to name a few. Pirate Radio in theatres now!

Win Tix to the L.A. Chamber Orchestra: Beethoven Explained & the 5th Symphony

Whether you listen to classical music or not, we all know this famous music quotation: Da da da DUM! And when you hear it played by an orchestra, you're listening to it in the key of C-Minor. Does that matter? Why not some other key? Those questions and many others will be answered in an upcoming Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra's concert where music director Jeffrey Kahane and the orchestra will lead the audience on a "guided tour" of the inner workings of Beethoven's 5th Symphony before performing it in full during the second half of the program.

In conjunction with “The Bible Illuminated: R. Crumb’s Book of Genesis,”, which opened at the Hammer Museum last Friday, UCLA Live this Thursday is hosting a rare appearance of the famous cult cartoonist in a conversation with Françoise Mouly, The New Yorker's Art Editor. The following post is from our advertiser, 500 Days of Summer. This is a story of boy meets girl, begins the wry, probing narrator of 500 Days of Summer, and with that the film takes off at breakneck speed into a funny, true-to-life and unique dissection of the unruly and unpredictable year-and-a-half of one young man’s no-holds-barred love affair. Tom, the boy, still believes, even in this cynical modern world, in the notion of a transforming, cosmically destined, lightning-strikes-once kind of love. Summer, the girl, doesn’t. Not at all. But that doesn’t stop Tom from going after her, again and again, like a modern Don Quixote, with all his might and courage. Suddenly, Tom is in love not just with a lovely, witty, intelligent woman - not that he minds any of that — but with the very idea of Summer, the very idea of a love that still has the power to shock the heart and stop the world. Fox Searchlight Pictures presents 500 Days of Summer, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel. In select theaters July 17. The following post is from our advertiser, Slumdog Millionaire. From Director Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later) comes Slumdog Millionaire, the film that Rolling Stone’s Peter Travers calls “one of the year’s best” and Richard Corliss from Time Magazine calls “a buoyant hymn to life, and a movie to celebrate.” A penniless, eighteen year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, Jamal Malik is one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on India's ‘‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” But when the show breaks for the night, suddenly, he is arrested on suspicion of cheating. After all, how could an uneducated street kid possibly know so much? Determined to get to the bottom of Jamal’s story, the jaded Police Inspector spends the night probing Jamal’s incredible past, from his riveting tales of the slums where he and his brother Salim survived by their wits to his hair-raising encounters with local gangs to his heartbreak over Latika, the unforgettable girl he loved and lost. Each chapter of Jamal’s increasingly layered story reveals where he learned the answers to the show’s seemingly impossible quizzes. But one question remains a mystery: what is this young man with no apparent desire for riches really doing on the game show? When the new day dawns and Jamal returns to answer the final question, the Inspector and sixty million viewers are about to find out… Visit the OFFICIAL SITE for info about FREE screenings in your area.

The following post is from our advertiser, Cabana Cachaça. 2008_10_cabanasponsored.jpg What sets Cabana Cachaça apart from other cachaça brands? Cabana is the only super-premium cachaça, Brasil's national spirit, that is double-distilled in pot stills from hand cut sugarcane and then mellowed in Brasilian Jequitiba wood barrels for six months. The result is a cachaça refined from its natural vegetal and harsh taste to a smooth and versatile spirit. Bottled at its source in Brasil, Cabana Cachaça is an artisanal cachaça that is central to the ultimate caipirinha. And while Cabana makes the ultimate caipirinha, it can also be enjoyed in a wide variety of interesting cocktails like the Brasilian Wax, Cabanarita, and the Gisele, all of which can be found in the mixology section of the Cabana Cachaça website. You can purchase Cabana Cachaça at places like Neomeze in Pasadena, Bel Air Bay Club in Pacific Palisades, Wapango in Rancho Cucamonga, Isla in West Hollywood and Café Fiore in Ventura like BevMo!. 40% ALC/VOL BRASILIAN RUM DISTILLED FROM SUGAR CANE.
