EA Sports' Fight Night Round 4 Launch Party Starring Mike Tyson and Snoop Dogg @ HOB, 6/22/09

Mike Tyson is back. His documentary, Tyson, released in April won over critics and fans alike for it's brutal honesty. Earlier this month, the "Baddest Man on the Planet" was once again on the big screen in the surprise hit of the summer movie season, The Hangover, singing a Phil Collins tune and punching Zach Galifinakis. Today, gamers will find Mike on the shelves at their local retail stores as he graces the cover of EA Sports' Fight Night Round 4 alongside the "Greatest of All Time" Muhammad Ali.

Internet Rumor Stoppage: Mrs. Snoop Dogg Isn't Dead

It just takes one "anonymous tipster" to make gossip go viral these days, which is precisely what happened yesterday when celeb scandal-mongers TMZ passed on a report that came from the California Highway Patrol's own website regarding a "possible fatality" at the home of rapper Snoop Dogg that read: "The word is 'Snoop Doggy Dogg has the dead body of his wife in his basement"--a story which grew wings and spread like an STD at a frat house in seconds flat. Snoop, nee Cordozar Calvin Broadus Jr, and his wife, Shante Taylor, have had their share of squabbles, but the rapper's manager has come forward to say that the story is "ridiculous." TMZ, classy lot that they are, added this parting thought to the item: "So this is either really funny ... or really, really, really messed up." Really? Recently, LAist chatted with Snoop about his own quirky sense of humor.

<strike>Seven</strike> Four Questions with Snoop Dogg on the Set of 'Dogg After Dark'

LA has a diverse cast of characters. Whether it's the characters with stirring stories or interesting occupations or the people who are just simply characters, this town has them all. In an effort to get to know some of those characters a little better, we've created "Seven Questions with..."

Tonight LA has its fair share of NYE options. French Rumba Flamenca outfit the Gipsy Kings are slated to headline the newly renovated Conga Room (LAist Review). Long Beach-bred rapper Snoop Dogg is poised to flow at the House of Blues Sunset. Legendary alternative rockers Stone Temple Pilots will be performing at Club Nokia in Downtown. Showtune maestros Pink Martini are gearing up for two gigs, one early, one late, at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Bob Marley's backing band the Wailers will be jamming at the Roxy. Santa Barbara-based folk rockers Toad the Wet Sprocket will be rocking out at the Canyon Club. Israeli trance outfit Infected Mushroom are set to headline the Hollywood Palladium. Little Radio will be throwing a NYE extravaganza at the Bank with Ariel Pink, Crystal Antlers, Restavrant and Port O'Brien. And, lastly, local indie rockers the Henry Clay People and the Happy Hollows will be coming through Spaceland. But from the bevy of options we strongly suggest heading over to the Echo to party with the Blood Arm. The rollicking quartet will surely kick the New Year off with a bang.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department has lifted the mandatory evacuation for the affected areas of the Country Estates and Diamond Bar. "The threat of fire has decreased and firefighters continue to make good progress on containment," a statement from the department read. "Progress has been made along the west side of the 57 Freeway and along the base of the Boy Scout Reservation. Firefighter continues to work on the containment within the fire line."

To promote the release of MURS for President, which hit stores today, the LA native will be signing copies and performing at Amoeba tonight at 6:30 pm.

The point of the show is to showcase videos, and music. Pete Wentz throws to videos, a panel of three video experts (including Travis McCoy from Gym Class Heroes) critiques the video premieres, artists from the premiering video chat with Pete, the studio audience votes on the videos with text messages, AND bands come in to perform live.

The WGA Board voted unanimously last night to not picket the 50th Grammy Awards, February 10th at Staples Center.

Fear not, fans of Posh and Becks, the high-profile pair are not going to be packing up and heading out of our fair city, as rumors have been circulating.

Etta James & Chuck Berry - "Rock n' Roll Music"

Parenthetically tagged "sexual eruption," the Doggfather's latest offering is ridiculous -- even if it's not 4:20 when you're watching it.

Ducks 4, Kings 3, SO - Southern California's teams are getting to know each other pretty well. After opening the season with two games in London, they now face each other in three of their next six games. Last night in Anaheim the Ducks showed signs of life, but blew a two goal lead in the third period. The eventually beat Los Angeles 2-0 in a shoot-out. Spurs 107, Lakers 92 - The Lakers are...

The Red Sox has permeated nearly every facet of Bostonist's lives. When they're not live-blogging the games, waxing poetic about the games, thanking Curt Schilling for his splendid work, or telling Dane Cook to watch his hair, they're watching certain presidential candidates hop on the Red Sox bandwagon (sorry, Gothamist). The Sox are so branded on the local brain that people are using the Series to spice up their sex lives. Speaking of spice, Bostonist is really sick of that taco promo. And, while they're proud of John Williams, Bostonist is still trying to figure out Williams' "Very Special Arrangement" of the "Star Spangled Banner."

If there are 30 minutes of television for you to watch tonight, then those 30 minutes should be 30 Rock. Tina Fey's American Express commercial has left me wanting more and finally I'm getting some. And hey lookie, they actually got Seinfeld back in a sitcom, for at least an episode. 8:30pm 30 Rock NBC - Season Premiere. TV Junkie Pick of the Night. 9:00pm Supernatural CW - Season Premiere. 9:00pm The Office NBC -...

On a mid-summer night every year for two decades, some of the biggest names in basketball and Hollywood were summoned to the hardwood by Magic Johnson and a good cause. Last year, Magic stepped down and handed over the torch to Baron Davis and Paul Pierce, two NBA All-Stars and native Angelenos. Sunday night at USC's Galen Center, the Davis/Pierce administration carried on the tradition of sloppy yet utterly entertaining basketball for charity for the...

You may have noticed a new button on our left-hand column with the title We See The Best Concerts. It dawned on us the other day that we really do go to the best concerts and we usually write about them the next day or a few days later. So here's a wrap up of all 37 shows we reviewed this month, with links to the posts just in case you missed it. Chris...

I had never seen a Snoop Dog show, or Dolomite either. So when i was assigned to see them and write them up, i had to admit i was star struck by the whole thing. How many rappers can say they even have their own special edition of Girls Gone Wild?! Snoop Dogg is a living legend, and so is Dolomite who is a comedian and the opening act. Dolomite literally had his electric...

The greatest surprise performance at the 24-hour Live Earth was not Kanye West and John Mayer joining the Police on "Message in a Bottle." Hell, no. It was Spinal Tap (reunited) with some help from Metallica (they actually laugh) bringing down London's Wembley Stadium with hits like "Stonehenge" and "Big Bottom." Madonna's gypsy-hobo-punk performance -- fully choreographed -- of "La Isla Bonita" with Eugene and Serge from Gogol Bordello was also surprisingly excellent (watch...

- Telemundo puts Mayor Tony's corazon on a leave of absence so they can investigate her - AP - 70 year-old bicyclist killed by an SUV in Tarzana - Daily News - Sticky Fingaz' brother X1 found dead this morning in LA, may have committed suicide - HHNLive - A 13 year-old kid get four fingers blown off thanks to fireworks - LAFD - "L.A. now recycles about 60% of its trash, the highest...

Long Beach's favorite son is playing a club in Hollywood as a BET Awards after-party and we have a pair of tickets to give to you.

LAist: Snoop we love you! Snoop Dogg: I accept your love and return it back to you snoop-fold. Bro, you're playing at the Henry Fonda Theatre next Tuesday the 26th with a live band for a BET Awards after party. And tickets haven't sold out yet. What's up with that? Oh it's chill, my cousin. People sometimes need things to percolate before it strikes them that they can see Big Snoop Dogg live and...

James Caan, Ray Liotta, Cuba Gooding Jr., Josh Lucas, Jerry O'Connell, "Snoop Dogg", Jerry Bruckheimer and Mark McGwire. Is this the cast for next summers biggest blockbuster?

Memorial Day kicks off summer which means we can finally show the world our ripped bodies we've been working on all winter and skateboard down the boardwalk grinding to our favorite summer jamz. City Hall's favorite taxpayer, Zuma Dogg was nice enough to share with us what we would probably hear if we wound up over at his pad sharing mother nature and working on plans to save the world. Sez ZD: Where do...

You can still root for LA's Golden Boy. After leading the Warriors to one of the greatest series upsets in the history of American sports (eighth seeded Golden State knocked off top ranked Dallas in six), Baron Davis went from star to hero. It looked like he might be headed for further greatness against Utah, but on Sunday things took a turn for the worse. He was held to 15 points as the Jazz...

A Word or 22: Earl wasn't all that last night despite the Smellovision but the Office was satisfyingly uncomfortable. Tonight it's nothing but Jerry Lewis until Conan comes on. Starting with the Nutty Professor, it just goes on and on and on White Sox @ Angels (FoxSports, 7:00 p.m.) Ghost Whisperer/Close to Home/NUMB3RS (CBS, 8-11:00 p.m.) Prophetic ghost foretells/Missing witness found dead/Water...
