Someone needs to tell Wendy McCaw that they canceled the soap opera Santa Barbara years ago. In what could only make sense in a network soap, the embattled Santa Barbara News-Press publisher has allowed a story without a byline to appear on the front page of her paper, accusing her former Executive Editor, Jerry Roberts, of having thousands of images of pornography on his company computer while he worked there. Thirty-three employees of the sleepy little Santa Barbara News-Press have been fired or quit in the past seven months and yesterday six more were axed knocking the total up to 39. The latest half dozen were shown the door after allegedly going to a freeway overpass and holding up signs encouraging people to cancel their subscriptions to the embattled newspaper.
