The Guide to March Rock Music Residencies has been updated with a few more listings -- it seems as if residencies are catching on, which is a good thing. Meanwhile, Howlin Rain plays their last LA concert before a tour promoting their new album, Magnificent Fiend, that was released yesterday.

I'm feeling it a little bit, yes, definitely am looking forward to the LOST premiere on Thursday night. Maybe make some chicken teriyaki and some tropical drinks, perhaps in a real coconut shell, yeah, that's the ticket.

Yesterday, a 26-year-old man stole a Los Angeles County Sheriffs (LASD) patrol car for unknown reasons, leading a car chase that ended in the San Diego area. The chase ended on the southbound I-5:

Regino Aguilar, 26, got out of the car after the chase but didn't comply with officers' orders, said San Diego police Lt. Kevin Rooney.

If you don't want to watch football over the next 4 days you are screwed. Normally I would tell you to head over to TCM or IFC for some fine movie action but it's slim pickins my friends. TCM has (lamely) decided to schedule a 3 day Andy Hardy marathon starring everyone's favorite short actor, Mickey Rooney, as the misguided but lovable Andy Hardy. One or two Andy Hardy movies is fine, but several days...

We realize that many of you might be preparing to head out tomorrow night, but friends, tonight is the night to rawwwwwk! And Neil if you're reading this... if you feel like recreating this moment from 2004, the Sports Arena is just a freeway away from the Nokia......

Well, apparently Superman can shape-shift as well. Daryl is also the frontman for Head Automatica, the powerpop/electronica band I have come to love. His collective of artist friends (El-P, Cage, Shia LaBoeuf, Aesop Rock, Yak Ballz, etc) AKA CardboardCity+Weathermen (CCWM) are transforming the music and art world.

Nike has put together some pretty cool commercials, but this one makes us wonder. Is it real, like the Tiger Woods one, or fake, like the Ronaldinho one? If it's real, did they super-impose the swoosh on the ball in post-production so it would show up in the ad?

The L.A. Film Festival lumbers towards its final weekend today and The Director Lunch Talk series has its best interview yet. John Horn talks to Danny Boyle (Sunshine, Trainspotting) at 12:30 p.m. at the Target Red Room. Another free talk is on tap at 7:00 p.m. at the Hammer Museum. It's Been There, Done That: A Conversation with Mickey Rooney. If you've never seen Mr. Rooney talk in person, treat yourself to this program. Not only is he a legend, but he has absolutely no filter. Expect hilariously inappropriate non-sequiturs. Another Hollywood legend will be at the Italian Culture Institute when Entertainment Weekly talks with Buck Henry at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for that one, though, are eleven bucks.

About ten days ago at Spaceland Shapes of Race Cars (not Races Cars, LA Weekly), played with the Binges in a show that even Mummy from The Monster Squad attended and rocked out to. Tonight you'll have to choose which one you want to see, unless of course you're interested in laughing, in which case you might consider Patton Oswalt... or Metal Skool who are known to attract celebs to their shows. After the jump check out the hair band covering Led Zep with the singer from Disturbed and your favorite power forward, Dennis Rodman.

LAist isn't sure how we feel about Laguna Beach. No, no, not the show, we love the show, the city is what we're unsure about. Typically we like to keep our 714-shit behind the orange curtain. But then we thought, maybe we're being too rough on our less-fortunate neighbors to the south. They can't help it that they live down there in those big houses near the beach, thinking that the Offspring is "rad"...

We're going to put on our Andy Rooney hat for a minute. Please bear with us.

Meanwhile, KXLU presents Karate, Roots of Orchis, and Ahmaste at Spaceland. Doors open at 9:00 PM.
