Now that I have recovered from nine days and nights at SXSW, I can tell you that it's all downhill from here for the world's greatest music festival. No way could anything top that. 1750 bands and hardly any of them sucked. How does that happen? Plenty of free food, beer, no lines if you had a badge. Stalwarts like The Stooges, Pete Townshend, Robyn Hitchcock, Public Enemy, Peter Case, Rickie Lee Jones, and......

- From the mouths of babes. 12-year-old Dakota Fanning puts critics of her new film "Hounddog" on Time Out for bitching about a film that would have such a little girl like her get raped. "It's not really happening. It's a movie, and it's called acting." she said. - CNN - Brent Liles, former bass player of Social Distortion died yesterday when a truck hit him while he was riding his bicycle - LA Times......

Colin Meloy might look like just another guy in line at Radio Shack, but he knows no fear. After being called out by Stephen Colbert on the Colbert Report for utilizing his trademarked Green Screen effect, Meloy upped the ante -- and on December 20th on Comedy Central, we will all benefit from the “Decemberists vs. Stephen Colbert Guitar Solo Challenge.” Meloy also accepted LAist's dare of handing over a Top 10 best CDs......

Rapper Tone Loc turns 40 today. Music geek favorite Robyn Hitchcock is 53. Jessica Biel, "7th Heaven" girl turned movie starlet, turns 24 today. Actor David Faustino is now 32. He probably doesn't want to be known forever as the awkward Bud Bundy from "Married...With Children," but, well, sorry Bud. Public Radio's This American Life host Ira Glass turns 47; this spring his show is shooting a pilot TV version for Showtime. John Carter Cash,......

But not without a little music first. An interview with Elvis Costello turned unexpectedly into an expose about "The Killer" Jerry......
