Festival Watch: Taking the Sunset Strip Back by Closing the Street Down

Santa Monica Boulevard sees two huge streets closures a year: Halloween and Gay Pride, both of which that draw hundreds of thousands of people. But for the first time the Sunset Strip is getting its due in a week and a half. "The street has never been closed for something like this, this is a first," explained an excited Nic Adler, the tech savvy owner of The Roxy and one of the Sunset Strip Music Festival organizers.

One of heavy metal's signature vocalists has died at the too-young age of 52. Kevin DuBrow grew up in Hollywood and Van Nuys and in the late 1970s became the lead singer for Quiet Riot, the glam-metal brainchild of guitarist Randy Rhoads. Though Quiet Riot's brand of hard rock -- or whatever you wish to call it -- was never the same after the 1980s, Quiet Riot carried on, true to form, was featured on...

VH-1 has come a long way since being the video channel of choice for moms in the '80s. Now they run original reality shows... and reality shows. Sometimes you'll see a video and think you've stepped back into time. Actually, and we know that this just means we're old, it seems to us that the music they play on VH-1 is better than ever. Either way the sister station of MTV is going to...

One of the nice things about having so many tv channels is there is so much selection. There once was a time when there was only one late-night talk show option: Johnny. Then there was Letterman and Leno. Now there's also Craig Ferguson, Conan of course, and Jimmy Kimmel. There's so much selection that there's even an audience for Carson Daly's terrible mess of a show. In order to keep up with the O'Brien's,...
