OctoMom-ma Docu Drama: Life, Choice, and TV Fame

She's baaaaaaack! OctoMom Nadya Suleman has found a way to make headlines again: The documentary on her and her brood of 14 has aired in the UK and will soon air in the US. Now she's having her reasoning for not selectively reducing the number of embryos she was carrying as part of her pregnancy with her nearly-year-old octuplets serve as the latest soundbite to make its media rounds, thanks to an appearance today on Good Morning America.

14 Kids + 15 Interminable Minutes of Fame for OctoMom

It's a dream come true for the woman known as OctoMom: A European production company has hired the 14 children of the OC's Nadya Suleman and papers have been signed and filed guaranteeing each kid a $250 a day salary for their upcoming work in a reality TV show, reports the LA Times. The Suleman brood, including the octuplets born amid a flurry of flashbulbs and headlines earlier this year, will begin work September 1st.

Labor Pains: Lawsuit Hits OctoMom About Filming Her Kids

No, she won't just go away: Nadya Suleman, aka OctoMom, is keeping her name in the press thanks to a pair of lawsuits going on in Orange County regarding her children and their being filmed. "A child-labor activist has filed suit against Suleman in Orange County Superior Court, alleging that video shot of her children violates a law aimed at protecting child entertainers from overwork. The suit seeks to create an independent trust for the children," LA Now reports.

More than $4,000 Spent on Octomom by Police

It wasn't the $25,000 the LAPD spent to help Britney Spears get to the hospital last year, but the La Habra police department estimates that more than $4,000 in resources have been used to help Octomom Nadya Suleman. Specifically, $4,000 has been spent on overtime for officers, but other costs such as responding to calls were not factored, says the Pasadena Star News. "Virtually all police services are free to residents of the community," said Cindy Knapp, spokeswoman for the La Habra Police Department. "There are no legal provisions or paths for cost recovery under the specific circumstances or service provided to the Sulemans at this point." Police began to help Suleman after she brought home the first two babies and was swarmed by paparazzi (see the crazy video here).

Attorney Fears Celebrity Trumps Security in the Case of OctoMom

High-profile litigator Gloria Allred went on the Today Show this morning to publicly respond to OctoMom Nadya Suleman's recent actions. Allred says the mother of 14 "only cares about her babies when the cameras are rolling," according to the OC Register. Allred also reveals that "there have been two intruders on two different nights at the La Habra home since Nadya moved in only a week ago, raising legitimate fears of baby abductions." She added that Suleman asked one of the nannies to make the 911 call "because she was concerned she had done too many 911 calls,” herself.

Thanks But No Thanks (Again) For OctoMom's Pro Bono Nurses

Nadya Suleman didn't like the idea to begin with: Non-profit Angels in Waiting would help out the mom of 14 by providing in-home care for her newborn octuplets and her six older children. What wasn't so appealing about that?

OctoMom on the Baby Daddy: 'I'll never disclose who he is.'

On Tuesday, when OctoMom Nadya Suleman brought home two of her eight newborns to the family's new La Habra home, she was greeted by a mob scene comprised mostly of media and their furiously snapping cameras (and some locals celebrating St. Patty's day on her lawn, it would seem). So when two more babies came home yesterday, there was far less fanfare, because "the hospital apparently kept the release of the babies quiet at Suleman’s request," explains the OC Register.

Word buzzed about town yesterday that Nadya Suleman, aka OctoMom, was due to bring home two of her eight newborn babies to her family's new home in La Habra, according to the Huffington Post. The arrival sparked a media frenzy:

Scores of photographers, reporters and gawkers who had staked out her new house for hours clung to her vehicle as she arrived home late Tuesday in a homecoming reminiscent of the scenes that have surrounded Hollywood's infamous celebutantes.
Suleman rode in the back of an SUV, her face beaming as cameras frantically clicked and flashes went off. Although she professed feeling nervous about the safety of her newborns, she did not seem to mind the crowds--in fact, footage captured of the arrival shows her looking amused and pleased with the attention.

Look Out La Habra, OctoMom is Moving In!

Nadya Suleman is prepping to move out of Whittier and over to neighboring La Habra. In a video posted on her sponsor site, RadarOnline, the mother of 14 says she's footing the bill for her 4-bedroom, 3-bath, $564,900 home, contrasting with earlier reports it was her father who made the down payment. "I earned it myself," she says, wide-eyed and beaming, in the video tour.

OctoMom is 'Greedy' and 'Nuts' Says (Another) Former PR Rep

And another one bites the dust. That's two publicists Whittier's Nadya Suleman has burned through since the birth of her octuplets (in vitro babies #7-14) at the end of January.

Police, Child Services No Strangers in OctoMom's Home

Whittier police have revealed that they have made multiple visits to the home of OctoMom Nadya Suleman in the past 14 months, cbs2.com is reporting. Suleman, whose flock grew to 14 when she gave birth to octuplets at the end of January, has six kids aged 2-7.

Porno Flick Deal Could Be the $1 Million OctoMom Needs

She wants fame through the camera lens, so maybe this deal is more to her liking than a non-profit's offer of free round-the-clock childcare: Local adult industry company Vivid Entertainment has offered OctoMom Nadya Suleman up to $1 million to star in a film for their Vivid-Celeb imprint line, according to TMZ.

If You Can't Get Me & My 14 Kids on TV, You Can't Help Me

The non-profit group Angels in Waiting thought they had an offer "OctoMom" Nadya Suleman couldn't refuse: "round-the-clock nursing care to her 14 children, while allowing her entire family to live in a home together," according to the Press-Telegram.

OctoMom Might Not Get to Bring Home the Babies

She wanted $2 million in endorsements and appearance fees, but now Nadya Suleman, aka OctoMom, just wants her 8 newborn babies. The 33-year-old Whittier woman apparently told TV therapist Dr. Phil McGraw that she feared Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Bellflower might not release the babies to her, according to the Associated Press (via Huffington Post).

OctoMom Left Without a House or 'Talent' Reps?

First Angela Suleman said her daughter Nadya was "obsessed" with having kids and that she wouldn't be around to help her when her octuplets came home, then they seemed to have kissed and made up. But now TMZ is reporting that Mrs. Suleman hasn't been paying the mortgage during the months of her only daughter's most recent pregnancy. In fact, the gossip site explains: "According to documents filed earlier this month, OctoGrandma (who owns the house) hasn't made any payments on her home since May, 2008 -- she's behind $23,224.98."

Multiple Mom Susan Pinsky: Triplets Were A Lot of Work, Now Octuplets...

Susan Pinsky had triplets sixteen years ago. The thirtysomething UCLA graduate had health insurance and a loving husband who was a successful doctor. Despite being married to “probably one of the smartest men in America,” she says lovingly of her husband Dr. Drew Pinsky, having triplets was very difficult.

Octo Mom's PR Firm Surrenders After a Week of Threats

This week, the story of Whittier's "Octo Mom" began to gather nation-wide steam as the new mother of octuplets--plus 6 other kids--hit the media with her unique story. Navigating the world of PR isn't something one should go alone, which is why 33-year-old Nadya Suleman accepted the offer from Los Angeles's Killeen Furtney Group for pro bono PR services. With the hope of finding the public's "oooohhh, babies!" soft spot, they launched the "Nadya Suleman Family" website, where people could leave good wishes and, of course, donations.

Octuplets Fertility Doctor's Other Patient: 49-Year-Old with Quadruplets

Seeing a pattern here? Fertility doctor Michael Kamrava apparently has another patient--this time a 49-year-old woman five months into her pregnancy--who is at USC Medical Center with her unborn quadruplets. "Several sources told The Times that Dr. Michael Kamrava transferred at least seven embryos made from younger donor eggs," the LA Times found.

Octo Mom Hits the Internets

It was bound to happen: Whittier's "Octo Mom" Nadya Suleman has her own website.

How Much Are Those Octuplets Going to Cost You? Yes, You.

Nadya Suleman, better known these days as "Octo Mom" has $50k in student loan debt, is unemployed, and now has 14 kids under the age of 8. One question that keeps coming up in the public and the press is how this 33-year-old single mom from Whittier plans on paying for her newborn octuplets and their six older siblings when she's got no income of her own and has driven her own parents into bankruptcy.

Beverly Hills Clinic and Doc Named as Suleman's IVF Provider

During her Today Show interview aired this morning, Nadya Suleman revealed that she used Dr. Michael Kamrava's West Coast IVF Clinic for all of her pregnancies. The Beverly Hills clinic, whose website boasts they are "leading innovators" in "bringing together high technology, low cost, and effective treatment of infertility," offers multiple financing options for women seeking help in having babies. Kamrava's bio indicates he has been working in the field of infertility for over 25 years. Last week, the Medical Board of California said they were investigating the then-unnamed doctor who treated Suleman to see if the standard of care was violated; it is not common practice to implant 6 embryos in a woman as young as the 33-year-old Suleman.

Octuplets' Mom Shows Off Babies, Says Money is Just 'Paper'

Although Whittier's Nadya Suleman had her sights set on Oprah, the woman dubbed "Octo-Mom" by the media seems pretty content spilling her secrets to the Today Show. She gave her first interview to NBC's Anny Curry, which was broadcast today, and defended her choice to bear 14 children via in vitro fertilization, including the octuplets born in Bellflower two weeks ago.

Ethicists and Public Cry Foul Over Octuplets' Mom, Doctor

Yesterday, 33-year-old unemployed graduate student Nadya Suleman broke her silence and sat down for an interview with the Today Show about her choice to have 14 children via in vitro fertilization, including the octuplets born to her on January 26th in Bellflower. While the interview raised the issue of her life-long desire to be a mother to many children, as well as her struggle with depression, it still could not address some of the very pressing issues of medical ethics raised in the aftermath of her octuplets' birth.

Octuplet Mother on Why? 'That was Always a Dream of Mine... a Huge Family'

The mother who gave birth to octuplets last week has finally gone public. Nadya Suleman, 33, of Whittier appeared on NBC's TODAY for an exclusive interview revealing a lot more about her:

Spokeswoman for Octuplet's Mother Visits Larry King on CNN

Yesterday we found out that Nadya Suleman, the Whittier mother who gave birth to octuplets last week, hired a public relations firm to deal with all the national media attention the family has been getting. And it didn't take long for Joanne Killeen, who only met Suleman on Friday, to appear on Larry King. Here's the most interesting part of the interview (full transcript is below the jump):

Octuplets' Grandma Calls Daughter 'a Little Misguided'

Angela Suleman, the mother of Nadya, who gave birth to octuplets last month, is talking, once again, about her daughter. And like last time, it's not as supportive as you would expect a grandma to be. However, it is realistic: "Her dad and I have told her she has six beautiful children. Why do you want more?" she told PEOPLE in its new issue that will hit newsstands on Friday. "She is a good person but a little misguided." Apparently, she thinks Nadya is trying to compensate for not having any siblings. "She was always upset about not having brothers and sisters," she said. "[Nadya] really is a good mother... I love these kids... I've been taking care of them since the first one was born, but I need a rest. I need a rest." 14 little kids = no rest!

Mother of Octuplets Sought as 'Baby Expert'

Despite criticism of having eight babies by in vitro--and not to mention already having six children prior to the newborns--mother Nadya Suleman "has been inundated with offers for media interviews, talk show appearances and jobs as a baby expert," according to ABC News.
