TV Junkie: TCM Junkies Social Network; 'The Shield' Comedy Hour; Sonic Youth on Letterman

Hardcore classic film geeks (ourselves included) now have a place to go as Turner Classic Movies aka TCM has launched a fan site that includes social networking doo-dads, video clips, and rare photos. --- Fans of "The Shield" will be eagerly anticipating the next effort from series creator Shawn Ryan, an hour-long comedic private investigator series called "Terriers" co-penned by "Ocean's Eleven" writer Ted Griffin. The pilot has been green-lighted/lit? by FX but no word on air date.

TV Junkie: What Fall TV Will Look Like; 'Idol' Finale

Upfront Day News: This week is when the networks roll out the programs they are planning to release for the Fall - or, at least, its the programs they "say" they are going to roll out for the Fall. They might announce these programs but it doesn't mean they will be given budgets to adequately promote them; it doesn't mean that some of these programs aren't "filler" to be shifted around the schedule before they are ultimately canceled; it doesn't mean that some of these programs aren't feints to throw the other networks off.

TV Junkie: 'Lost' Season Finale; Colber(t)'s Birthday; PBS Changes

For people who like real news other than the BBC should know that there are huge changes happening over at PBS with regards to "The NewsHour With Jim Lehrer". Starting in September, the show will change its name to "PBS NewsHour" and along with an online correspondent, will have two anchors move from a single-anchor format to one with two anchors.

TV Junkie: 'Damages' Season(?) Finale

Tonight's season finale of "Damages" promises to be a nail-biter - we know where we'll be at 10pm. As it approaches, we wonder how there could possibly a third season after this, but that's the result of great writing. Unfortunately it's conflicting with the season premiere of "Reno 911!" but we take solace in the fact that it airs again later, because we're cheap that way.

In the viewing wars of election night, evidently ABC came out on top - a network we never even considered viewing - so tell us, did you watch ABC last night and why? While ABC scored 65 million viewers vs CNN's 12.3 million, CNN tells TechCrunch that they had record web traffic of over 27 million unique visitors and over 276 million page views.

Just read this post at Nikki Finke's "Deadline Hollywood Daily" about AMC potentially giving "Mad Men" creator, Matt Weiner, the boot. This would be a terrible tragedy for the series and network but it appears that Weiner's representation, CAA, overstepped and demanded too much money from the basic cable channel - essentially demanding compensation more in line with what a HBO or Showtime might be able to afford.

So yesterday we mentioned that Amazon-owned IMDB is getting video clips and today Amazon tells us that they're launching a video-on-demand service providing access to over 500 TV shows and associated cast interviews and other content. This is an ad-free offering so one won't have to deal with the ad interruptions that one gets on NBC.com and other such sites. Some featured TV shows will have episodes available PRE air-date so Amazon users will be able to sneak preview the entire episode before it is broadcast. The service is called The Your [Favorite Show] Store.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, ABC is going to be releasing some pilots very soon, well not too soon as I don't imagine that they will attempt to compete with the Olympics and NBC. The only things that jumped out at me was the name of Portia de Rossi who will be in another sitcom, an untitled Victor Fresco ("My Name Is Earl", "Andy Richter", etc.) project, as well as a "large-cast Shakespearean drama" titled "Prince of Motor City" which has dud written all over it. We'll see what makes it to air.

I'm feeling it a little bit, yes, definitely am looking forward to the LOST premiere on Thursday night. Maybe make some chicken teriyaki and some tropical drinks, perhaps in a real coconut shell, yeah, that's the ticket.
