Man Killed at Beverly Center ID'd as Rap Artist, Dolla

A suspect who shot and killed Dolla was also arrested yesterday at Los Angeles International Airport. Up-and-coming rap artist Roderick Anthony Burton II--stage name, Dolla--died Monday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after being shot near an entrance of the Beverly Center yesterday afternoon. The around-3-p.m. shooting prompted the closure of the area as police searched for possibly two suspects, but to no avail.

Musician Helps Tackle Man in LAX Bomb Scare

"We all jumped him. He was struggling hardcore. I was holding down his arm. Somebody had a foot on his head. Everyone was holding down a different body part. He was going nuts. I was telling him to chill because he's not going anyplace." That's Chris Llewellyn of Asher Roth's band talking to the LA Times about the mid-morning incident where a man on board claimed he had a bomb as a a Delta flight from Atlanta was landing and taxiing in Los Angeles. The Pennsylvania based band was traveling to town for an appearance on the boring "Last Call With Carson Daly." LA Observed has shared a new New Yorker story on legendary music icon Prince, who has been living in Los Angeles for the past two years. Recently the Artist Formerly Known as the Artist Formerly Known as Prince played Coachella, declaring as he left the stage: "Coachella will always be Prince's house." Lest he confuse himself or his fans, he actually now calls the "rarefied gated nouveau complex of Beverly Park" here in LA his home.
