If Wonder Woman had hung up her cape and chosen to give up her life of fighting crime and instead wanted to get into the local music scene, she may have asked some pointers from Ashley Jex. At the tender age of twenty five, Jex has created a local music empire. Not only has she launched a very influential record label, JAXART out of her living room, she still makes time for her music blog,Rock Insider, and her band The Monolators, and somehow her day job. She can do it all. LAist caught up with Jex in her industrial epicenter (aka living room) to ask her how the heck she manages to stay awake. Here is some of what was said.

What Made Milwaukee Famous finish up their Los Angeles tour playing along with Tulsa and the British Sea Power/Colourmusic bill moves over to Spaceland. On the Westside, there's only one choice to make and that is hip-hop violinist Paul Dateh at the Temple Bar (check out our interview with him including video). Over in Little Tokyo, Vosotros is having a record release party at LAND for their new album featuring 12 bands. Ryan Adams sucks and Matt Costa is all the way in Long Beach, so if there's anything worth checking out tonight that you probably haven't done, then it's some salsa dancing in Studio City with Johnny Polanco (pictured right). His band has "contagious Latin Music that is truly appreciated by the dancing connoisseurs." Rock.

Since the Mezzanine Owls got canceled tonight after we listed them in Tonight in Rock, we're adding one more band to consider -- Rocket.

Take note as Spaceland produces two great concerts tonight. One, a free concert downtown at Pershing Square featuring clean and well orchestrated story telling sounds of the Mezzanine Owls. It's the Spaceland On Ice series, so go skate and listen to music! At Spaceland itself, The Airborne Toxic Event is in residency this month starting tonight where they will place with the Henry Clay People, Natural Disasters and Frankie Palmer.
