It's National Margarita Day, So Do Your Part!

Because you need an excuse to imbibe: Today is National Margarita Day! Woo hoo! Drink up! Now, if you want to be a know-it-all drinker, though, you can wow your fellow fiesta-ers with these margarita facts, passed on to us by the nice people at Tequila Herradura:

Loteria Grill at the Original Farmers Market has long been one of the city's most popular Mexican outposts (we reviewed it back in April just for kicks), so it's nice to see chef Jimmy Shaw take up residence in an attractive space on Hollywood Boulevard. The new restaurant's menu is more extensive than the original's, but there are still plenty of your old favorites to choose from. LAist's editor Zach Behrens has given the place thumbs up for vegetarian options, but meat eaters will enjoy a long list of pork, chicken, and beef entrees as well.

Malo has created a special drink for this weekend's festival called the Sunset Junction Margarita ($8). Made out of El Jimador, Cointreau, a simple syrup and lime juice, it's got a quite a nice spritzy and refreshing kick to it and soothes your quench for thirst (and alcohol) easily. Additionaly, they have some very good specialty cocktails).

Nancy Luna, otherwise known as the Fast Food Maven at the OC Register, has developed a true appreciation for tomatoes in the midst of the latest food recall. A recent trip to El Pollo Loco inspired this realization:
