LAst Night's Action: Clips Stung by Hornets

Chicago Blackhawks defeat LA Kings 4-1. The Kings are reeling now losing two straight games in regulation after going 6-0-2. Penalty killing literally killed the Kings as they held strong for two periods holding a 1-1 tie. Third period power play goals by Troy Brouwer and Jonathan Toews blew the game open for the Blackhawks giving them an overall 73-72-21 lead all-time against the Kings. They Kings managed only 18 shots on goal all game including a paltry two shots in the third period. Anze Kopitar managed the only goal for the Kings in the second period giving him a league-leading 28 points making him the player to watch in the league. LAst Night's Action: Dodgers Beat up on Another Chicago Team

LA Dodgers defeat Chicago White Sox 5-2. This was Hiroki Kuroda at his best. Kuroda gave up a solo shot to former Dodger prospect Paul Konerko in the second inning and an RBI single to Jermaine Dye in the ninth as the only blemishes in his 8 2/3 inning performance. After Dye's single Jonathan Broxton came in and Jim Thome to strike out to end the game. Meanwhile the offense was buoyed by James Loney's two-run dinger in the second and Casey Blake's two-run single in the eighth inning. The Dodgers are now 23 games over .500 the most since the end of 2004.

It would be a celebration of the Kings young guns, who scored all three goals against the St. Louis Blues. I would be praising the coming of a new savior, rookie netminder Jonathon Bernier, who played brilliantly. But alas, the game still has three periods, and last...

To my dearest City of Angels, On this Valentine's Day, my thoughts turn to love. I want to whisper sweet nothings in your broadcast booths. I want to serenade you with Randy Newman's, "I Love LA." You have blessed me with your balmy weather and sunny skies. Other cities may act like ice queens and dump (11 feet of snow on) their lovers, but you never fail me. You always get me excited. You give...

Luc Robitaille is a name that is synonymous with the LA Kings. Even during his tours with Pittsburgh, New York and Detroit (where he won his only Stanley Cup) he would return to LA and know that this was where he belonged. Now he truly belongs... as one of the All-Time greats in King and NHL history, as he passed Marcel Dionne to become the Kings greatest goal scorer in franchise history.

Robitaille signed a one-year contract yesterday with the Kings as part of his third stint with the team. While we recognize that Robitaille has played with the Rangers, Penguins, and Red Wings, LAist cannot think of a player who is more symbolic Kings Hockey than Robitaille.
