But instead of seeing......

The election of Antonio Villaraigosa as Los Angeles mayor continues to have a "musical chairs" effect through city politics, as the players jockey for better seats to get their issues heard. This time it's the unions aiming for the political equivalent of floor seats at Staples Center. Los Angeles Tenth District City Councilman Martin Ludlow has been nominated to head the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor. The labor federation has to find a......

And so, The Cheesecake Factory went forth and begat a child, The Grand Lux Cafe, and the child blossomed in LA at the base of the shopper's temple, The Beverly Center. And the hungry masses flocked to her tables and dined on enormous portions of inventive food. And two heathens had a leisurely late Saturday lunch one spring weekend, bestowing (reluctant) praise to the gods of pseudo-luxury dining. We were starving. We'd wandered the......

It sits just down the street from Urth Cafe, and on the corner of Melrose and La Cienega Boulevard. And LAist is pleading the City of Los Angeles to tear it down. Although featured in a prominent scene in the movie Ruthless People, the pink and black checkered building has done more than corner......

LAist often scans Gayot.com for LA restaurant news. We found the following item after sifting through all the (barely) rewritten press releases: Alto Palato, the landmark Italian restaurant on La Cienega, is closing its doors on December 3 after more than 10 years in business. Owner Danilo Terribili is sad about the departure, but it will give him more time to spend on his Spark Woodfire Cooking restaurants. From November 7 until then, chef......
