Tonight In Rock: John Fogerty, Killsonic, One Trick Pony, Dirt Dress

Tonight Berkeley-bred rock singer-songwriter John Fogerty, best known for his time with Creedence Clearwater Revival, will be taking on a three-night stint at the Hollywood Bowl. Local roving marching band Killsonic (LAist Review, #2) are poised to grace the Troubadour. And, lastly, LA-based garage rock outfit Dirt Dress will be performing at Silver Factory Studios. But we strongly suggest heading over to Mr. T's Bowl to catch local indie rockers One Trick Pony.

We first met the roving band Killsonic last year on Valentine's Day roaming the streets of downtown during the monthly art walk. The quality of music and the random nature of how it all felt gave us a fantastic feeling. Then last night, at the tail end of the Prop 8 march in Hollywood was the band, rocking it out, once again.

December is was list-making season. And for us music journalists, it is a time to look back on scores of albums, reflect upon the music and recapitulate our favorites. But this year, just like the last, we took this opportunity to flip that tradition upside down, asking the artists that influenced us what influenced them. The prompt was not limited to albums that came out in 2008.
