LAst Laugh: This Week in Comedy

It's 4.20! Smoke all your smokes and whatnot. You'd think I'd hype The Smokes show at UCB tonight at 7, or the 4.20 Crash Test show or SOMETHING, but nope. Smoke free since 1983, playas! Anywho, UCB has so much else going on this week you can't believe it. The great shows like CDR are killing it this week and Nick Kroll as Fabrice Fabrice is a must, even if you have to hit the standby line. Largo drops off this week, but looks very promising in the near future. Email Farley if you want to spread your own love. Eww.

Carlos Mencia is back at it and chances are you're either pumped or pissed about it. The loved/hated comedian's show, Mind of Mencia is back for a fourth season, his new Comedy Central special "Performance Enhanced" is now in heavy rotation on the cable network and he's hitting the road with the Bud Light Presents: Carlos Mencia at Close Range Tour, which hits the Gibson Ampitheater September 26 and 27. The comic who was born in Honduras and raised in East LA, took a little time out from production of his show to talk to LAist about the new season, race, Joe Rogan, being called a hack and the Internet.

For over seven years, the Rebels of Comedy have created a warm and welcoming environment in one of America's most notoriously vicious industries. The comedy troop regularly brings Los Angele venues the biggest names and best up-and-coming talent in stand-up.

A Word or, I dunno, like 80: It seems to be coming together a bit on Lost - another good episode last night. If you want the producers' perspective, they're on tonight after Grey's. Delay goes to his base tonight on Colbert. Tonight the networks will have the typical struggle between comedy and young-doctors-in-love, what will you succumb to? Tonight - Thursday - May 17, 2007 Angels @ Mariners (Fox Sports, 7:00 p.m.) Bob...

A Word or 34: Lots of new TV tonight, too bad that most of it is garbage. Potentially entertaining late night talk show guests include: Jane Fonda, Salman Rushdie, Antonio Banderas, Evangeline Lilly, Joe Rogan, and Steven Wright. Tonight - Wednesday - May 9, 2007 Beyond the Valley of the Dolls (IFC, 6:00 p.m.) Revel in the debauchery. Indians @ Angels (Fox Sports, 7:00 p.m.) Dodgers @ Marlins (PRIME, 7:30 p.m.) Jericho/Criminal Minds/CSI: NY...

By week's end, this town is regularly littered with a handful of free rags. Combined, these publications put the Tribune Company's Spring Street operation to shame as far as reporting on the dozens of municipalities that make up this metropolis of more than 12 million people. LAist reads the weeklies so you don't have to. If there's anything we missed, pretty please let us know, or better yet, drop it in the comments section...

After the Joe Rogan Comedy Store confrontation and the recent accusations of stealing from Bill Cosby, there seems to be a Carlos Mencia aka Ned Holness witch hunt as of late. Now he is being accused of stealing a Jesus joke from the late Sam Kinison. They're kind of different, but for a guy being looked at so closely he really should be extra careful....check out the clip after the jump and decide for yourself.

Looks like Carlos is joke stealing again.

He invented the wireless tv remote a little over 50 years ago, finally giving men an important responsibility around the house - AP - When Britney Spears shaved off all her hair yesterday, did she do it because of all the constant attention from the paparazzi? It's that time again friends. Time for a helping of the tech news from around the city, state, country and universe. As always, these are not always the most important stories but are the ones that particularly caught my eye during the week. So, sit back and relax and now that I'm somewhat recovered from last night's bug LAist "meeting" at Ye Rustic, here's the tech news for ye. The mayor of our fair...

With Joe Rogan's recent calling out of Carlos Mencia's joke-stealing habit, comedy has been a bit more interesting lately. This weekend, Rogan is performing twice at The Improv, and a few miles away, Mencia will be safe from him at The Comedy Store, where Rogan has been banned due to Mencia's feelings that he was "physically threatening." Comedians can be so dramatic sometimes. The Improv (8162 Melrose Avenue Los Angeles) 2/16 Joe Rogan @ 8:30...

We don't know what's in the water at local comedy clubs but we like it. First it was Kramer and then Damon Wayans and then Anthony Michael Hall at the Laugh Factory and this Saturday Joe Rogan chose to use The Comedy Store to confront Carlos Mencia for allegedly stealing jokes.
