Seven Questions: Daniel Tosh, Comedian/Host of Comedy Central's 'Tosh.0'

Daniel Tosh, who told us he'd prefer the title of "The Most Famous Man in Show Business Who Doesn't Have to Work" over "The Hardest Working Man in Show Business," took some time out from his busy schedule to talk to LAist about his similarity to Jesus, rubber-band ball statistics, his pitch for Michael Richards, the Internet's impact on comedy and telling Kobe Bryant jokes in front of Jerry Buss.

Chivas USA 0, FC Dallas 0 - LA's top team hasn't lost since July, earning a draw last night with Dallas. Brad Guzan had his MLS-leading 12th save to increase Chivas' lead in the Western Conference to four points with two games left to play. Unfortunately, Chivas was unable to capitalize on a one man advantage for the last ten minutes of the match. Warriors 119, Lakers 106 - Ahhh, preseason. 14 of 15 Lakers...

Can someone please tell Kobe Bryant to shut the hell up? Whether you are a fan of his or not, or think that he is bad for the Lakers right now or not, Laker fans everywhere must certainly be in agreement that we want him to STFU. This morning the LA Times reported that Kobe had a meeting with Laker owner Dr. Jerry Buss yesterday in Spain and asked again to be traded. Jerry...

We'd like to take credit for this hi-larious story about this Kobe Bryant feature in possible pre-development, but we can't. Check it out here. Photo by lunchbox....

Is Kobe on drugs? Should he be following Lindsay Lohan into rehab? We ask because after repeatedly talking to media outlets everywhere, and after telling Stephen A. Smith that the Lakers have lied to him and aren't interested in making the Lakers champs again any time soon, he just called into KLAC and took back everything saying that wants to stay. Claiming it's "his" team and that after a long, emotional talk with coach...

Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal are talking like teammates, but this isn't how Los Angeles fans wanted it to go down. While local media outlets are buzzing with this morning's news that Kobe wants a trade, his hometown paper found a different angle on the story. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, "I believe Kobe 100 percent," said O'Neal, reached yesterday while in Los Angeles on business. "Absolutely. There's no doubt in my mind Kobe is...

Even with LeBron leading his Cavs to much needed victory in the Eastern Conference Finals Tuesday night, the biggest story in the NBA is a team who has not played a game in exactly four weeks. The Lakers offseason has just been too wildly entertaining to take a backseat to the actual action on the court. And it just got better. Early Tuesday, team owner Jerry Buss was arrested in Carlsbad for suspicion of drunk...

Drunk Buss Driver - Laker owner Jerry Buss was popped for a DUI yesterday in Carlsbad. There are a lot of questions yet to be answered: Who was the 23 year old girl he was with? Why would a baller like Buss be driving a station wagon? Will Kobe's demands to bring back Jerry West be fulfilled? Hmmm, maybe this little ordeal was just to distract us from that last question. Dodgers 10, Nationals 0...

Kobe Bryant has made a bold demand to the Lakers front office. According to ESPN's Ric Bucher, the disgruntled diva shooting guard is asking owner, Dr. Jerry Buss to dig into the franchise's past and bring back Jerry West to replace Mitch Kupchak as general manager.

Now that the Lakers have been eliminated from the playoffs after last night’s 119-110 loss to the Phoenix Suns, local sports writers weighed in this morning about where to place the blame. columnist J.A. Adande joins a growing number of people who are looking to coach Phil Jackson for some answers. Jackson is a Hall of Famer and is considered by many to be one of the best coaches in NBA history, but lately some have been questioning the efficacy of his triangle offense with the current Lakers team. Adande thinks the Lakers certainly have the right players, but proposes that Jackson rethink his coaching style. “Something different than the erratic, three-point jacking under former coach Rudy Tomjanovich, but not as limited as what they’re doing now,” he suggests.

In a shocking move, Jerry Buss has sold the Los Angeles Lakers franchise to famed New York real estate tycoon Donald Trump, setting off a chain reaction of events within the organization.

This past off-season, the Lakers spent $30 million of Jerry Buss’ poker winnings to convince Vladimir Radmanovic to cross the hall from the Clipper locker room to the Lakers’. It made sense: The Lakers needed a sharp-shooter from three-point range to spread opposing defenses, giving Kobe Bryant and Lamar Odom room to work inside.

Rarely do we present a 4:20 Video at 4:20am, but tonight we were just re-watching Lost and while searching for "los angeles" on YouTube, we stumbled across this nicely shot, perfectly edited video of Laker owner Dr. Jerry Buss produced, apparently by laphoto2006. laphoto2006, we don't know who you are but we love ya.

His IMDB page is not going to impress you, but Dr. Jerry Buss is a star in this city. By whatever nebulous definition we seem to have for it.

Laker fans can seem impatient. Sure, fans of lesser franchises would probably go with the word "spoiled", but in the past Laker fans simply ignored those comments as they were driving to parades through downtown. They even thought Mark Madsen's dancing was cute; winning will cloud your judgment that way. But after two whole seasons without a Finals appearance some fans this summer called for a BIG move. Fortunately, the more rational fans among them...

"I'm very excited about my new agreement with the Heat," O'Neal said. "This contract allows me to address all of my family's long-term financial goals while allowing the Heat the ability to acquire those players that we need to win a championship."

A real owner? Micky Arison? What has Micky Arison ever done that's so great? Unnecessarily handing over nearly 10% of his team to Pat Riley and reaching one Eastern Conference final?

Hiring Spero Dedes is a bad idea. He comes from what I like to call the "New York school" of basketball announcers, where everyone desperately tries to sound like Marv Albert. They all speak in short phrases, and throw a bit of a New York flair at the end of their sentence, while not really saying a whole lot. Mike Breen has become relatively accomplished with this style, and Spero could too one day.

Hiring Phil Jackson would be a no-brainer for the Lakers. For one, Jerry Buss would save face after being perceived as the man who ran Shaq out of town. Secondly, Jackson is one of the few coaches with the clout to exert some control over Bryant. And third, from a schematic standpoint, Jackson might the only coach in the NBA who could figure out how to make Lamar Odom the Scottie Pippen to Kobe Bryant's Michael Jordan.

He must have been reading LAist, which brought up Miller's name last week. But the more we think about it, the more we realize that Miller is the perfect person to become the Lakers' play-by-play announcer.

Jackson is vacationing in Australia with Luc Longley and brought up a return in an e-mail, writing: "[I am] mulling that over in my mind. Luc and I are going for a swim this p.m. [in the] Indian Ocean."

He may no longer be a Laker, but Derek Fisher's shot with 0.4 seconds left against San Antonio was the best thing to happen to LA sports fans all year. With every Laker annoying the hell out of the city of LA, from Shaq to Kobe to Malone to the Glove to Phil to Jerry Buss to Jeannie Buss, it was always nice to know that D-Fish was around. Sure, he couldn't defend to save his life. And he probably did take too many threes. But Derek Fisher was a consummate professional who was finally rewarded for years of hard work and humility.

"If Kobe doesn't see he needs two and a half good players to be a legitimate playoff contender or win a championship in about a year or two he'll be calling out to Jerry Buss that 'We need some help in here,' or 'Trade me,' " Allen said earlier this month. "And we'll all be saying, 'I told you so,' when he says that."

So it all comes down today. When the Lakers find out if their bold offseason plan to build around Kobe Bryant will pay dividends. Bryant reportedly will announce at a noon press conference whether he will sign with the Lakers or the Clippers.

After turning the basketball world upside down for the past few days, Mike Krzyzewski has calmed everything down, by opting to remain at Duke. Perhaps Coach K really does want to go to the NBA, but has little interest in being a part of the Lakers psychodrama. Perhaps, he's just happy ruling over college basketball. But whatever the reason, this is probably not great news for the Lakers.

While Tomjanovich is no Phil Jackson, this is good news for Lakers fans. In today's NBA, there is no coaching job more strenuous and complex than the Lakers', and Jerry Buss could not get away with handing the keys to the franchise over to a less-experienced coach like Jim Cleamons, Kurt Rambis, or Brian Shaw.
