Lakers 122, Hawks 93 - Atlanta had a bad draw. They were coming into a pumped-up Staples Center that hadn't seen the Lakers play a home game in weeks. They were coming in against a team rejuvenated by Pau Gasol. They were coming in against a Kobe Bryant with something to prove. Before halftime, the Lakers had a 41 point lead. Gasol and Bryant each scored 23. Bryant whacked his hand a couple times and......

Clippers 95, Hawks 88 - The Clips got an unexpected performance from rookie Al Thornton, who exploded for a career high 33 points the day after a major stomach virus. Los Angeles fielded their 20th different starting lineup of the year, and are currently missing Chris Kaman and Corey Maggette. Next up, a seven game road trip. That's not so bad -- the Lakers have a 9 game trip lined up. Wild 5, Ducks 1......

Lakers 112, Pacers 96 - The purple and gold have won six of seven and 12 of their last 15 games. Against Indiana, several players had big nights. All five starters hit double-digits in scoring, including 26 from Kobe Bryant, 23 from Andrew Bynum, and 22 from Derek Fisher. The Pacers are 0-9 against the Lakers in Staples Center. Spurs 88, Clippers 82 - Manu Ginobili returned from an injury to his left hand and......

Lakers - The Lakers punished Detroit with 41 points in the 4th-quarter on Friday. Six Lakers hit double-digits in the game. They stayed hot through Sunday, when they destroyed Chicago 106-78. Five reserves hit double-digits on that night, and the bench outscored the starters 73-33. The Bull's bench, by comparison, had 31. Clippers - With their full roster back, the Warriors put together a 122-105 drubbing of the Clippers on Friday. The Clippers fell again......

Yesterday was the 40th anniversary of the first game in LA Kings history. Your Los Angeles Kings celebrated by losing 4-1 to the Detroit Red Wings. Though if you live in LA and are reading this, you’re probably a Detroit fan anyway. Seriously, were there any Kings fans at the game last night? The Kings loss was its fifth in a row after winning the season opener against the Ducks in London. The lone......

Angels 9, Mariners 5 - With the best record in baseball, the Halos have secured at least a tie for their third AL West crown in four years. They can close it out tomorrow night (or pretty much anytime in the next couple weeks) and be the first team in baseball to clinch a playoff birth. There were some fireworks on the field on Thursday (Vladimir Guerrero popped one out of the park) and on......

Knicks 107, Lakers 106 - With time running out, the Lakers employed a brand new strategy against New York. Unofficially dubbed the "Let's not pass it to Kobe" play, Lamar Odom fired up an air ball as the clock ran out. So much for that idea. 7.1 seconds earlier, Eddy Curry slammed home the go-ahead dunk and propelled the Knicks to their 23rd win of the year -- matching last year's total with 30 games......

Disgruntled Laker fans, it’s time to come back home. I know a lot of you went astray in the frustrating aftermath of the Shaq/Kobe split, when there wasn’t enough money to keep their enormous egos on the same court. The Kobe vs. The World teams for a couple years provided some cheap thrills but didn’t win your heart. Then many of you had a little affair with the Clippers last spring, but you are forgiven......

This past off-season, the Lakers spent $30 million of Jerry Buss’ poker winnings to convince Vladimir Radmanovic to cross the hall from the Clipper locker room to the Lakers’. It made sense: The Lakers needed a sharp-shooter from three-point range to spread opposing defenses, giving Kobe Bryant and Lamar Odom room to work inside. And now they have that sharpshooter — Luke Walton. Yes, he of the Dead tattoo. Yes Luke, with the basketball legend......

- It's always nice to go to Lahaina, but it's better to come back with some hardware. UCLA did just that as they won the EA Sports Maui Invitational by easily rolling past #19 Georgia Tech 88-73. Arron Afflalo had 19 points in the win, but sophomore Darren Collison was named the tournament MVP. The fifth-ranked Bruins were up by 22 points in the second half with 9:49 left to play. - The Clip......

Just what do we know about this season’s Lakers after nine games? We know they can win with Kobe dragging one leg behind him (although he looked better Friday night against Toronto, to the point that Phil Jackson benched him for “imposing his will” on the game and ignoring teammates). We know that young guys like Andrew Bynum, Jordan Farmar and Ronny Turiaf can take on more than maybe we thought. We know Luke Walton......

(AP Photo/Jeff Lewis) Remember the other day when I was telling you all about how the Anaheim Ducks had started the season unbeaten? Those were good times, eh? That was Friday. Friday night the Ducks played the Calgary Flames. And they lost. Ooops. My bad. I should mention that I also wrote early last week about the Republican control of the House and the Senate. Hmm. Interesting. I totally should blog about how I've......

Who needs football when all three area pro baseball teams are so much fun? Long Beach Armada Steroid-slinging slugger Jose Canseco, oh yeah former steroid-slinging slugger... took to the mound for the first time as a starting pitcher Wednesday in Long Beach. Canseco fluttered a knuckleball for 4 1/3 innings, giving up five walks and hitting four batters while striking out only one as the LB Armada lost 8-2 against the Reno Silver Sox.......

The fear was that Dontrelle Willis was done losing ball games. The high-flying cocked-capped southpaw came to life last night at Chavez Ravine, striking out nine Dodger batters and even helping himself at the plate with a long ball that hit the wall for a triple. But the thrilling and dazzling pitcher couldn't do it on his own, and the home team's victory was led by Nomar Garciapara, one of the team's many shortstops.......

Well we wanted it... didnt we? After a back and forth series that EITHER team should could have won, another big game seven is set in Arizona to decide if the Clippers or the Phoenix Suns will play in the Western Conference Finals. Elton Brand has been everything and more for the Clippers. Averaging 30 and 10 for the Clips this series, he has the entire Suns frontcourt sweating in their sleep. Sam-I-Am has......
