Tonight the Swell Season, an indie folk duo formed by Irish musician Glen Hansard and Czech singer and pianist Markéta Irglová, will be gracing the Wiltern with Idaho's own pop folk singer-songwriter Josh Ritter in tow. New Orleans-bred indie pop act the Generationals are poised to perform at Spaceland, warming up the stage for Canadian indie pop outfit the Hidden Cameras and Guelph-based indie rock singer-songwriter Gentleman Reg. Local indie rockers Radars to the Sky will be ringing in their latest disc at the Echo with none other than Le Switch. But we strongly suggest heading over to the El Rey Theatre to catch London-based electro-infused rock duo the Big Pink. Long Beach natives Crystal Antlers (LAist Review) and LA-bred goth/dance-infused rock duo IO Echo are slated to kick things off.

This week Maine-bred folk singer-songwriter Ray LaMontagne will be taking on a three-night stint at the Orpheum Theatre in Downtown with LAist favorite, Illinois-based alternative country singer-songwriter Lissie. And, lastly, London-based electro-infused rock duo the Big Pink will be performing at the El Rey Theatre with Long Beach natives Crystal Antlers (LAist Review) and LA-bred goth/dance-infused rock duo IO Echo.

              

Earlier this month, LA-Underground co-presented a showcase, with KXLU and Manimal Vinyl, at The Smell in Downtown LA, featuring Alexandra Hope, VOICEsVOICEs, EXITMUSIC, and Warpaint.

                                   

Last night, Indie 103.1's "Also I Like To Rock" series continued, at the Hammer Museum in Westwood, with performances from local bands Miss Derringer (MySpace) and The Deadly Syndrome (MySpace).

If you cannot make it to hear the amazing jazz vocalist, Julia Fordham, at The Roxy tonight, opening up at Hotel Cafe tonight is Tiffany Randol, who we caught at one of <strong>Alex & Sam's Tangier shows. The front woman of NYC based glam rock band, Valeze, has now gone solo singer/songwriter style, making Los Angeles her second home, and is bringing out a new sound that is more folk-acoustic-pop than anything. The LA newbie can belt out her lyrics like a pro and her body and hips swing as if the music has seduced her in some kind of trance. Later at the Hotel Cafe, one of acoustic favs plays his last night of the Hotel Cafe residency -- stay for Brian Wright and the Waco Tragedies. ~ Z.B.
