This was the video played at DJ AM's memorial, held at the Hollywood Palladium. Rest in Peace Adam, March 30, 1973 - August 28, 2009.

In this 1992 video from the Hollywood Palladium, Alice in Chains performs their grunge classic "Man In The Box." Frontman Layne Staley shows what can occur when a lead singer is unencumbered by a guitar -- he's free to climb a massive stack of speakers and Superman onto adoring fans. In 2002 Staley lost a long battle with drug addiction. RIP Layne Staley. You're missed. The Layne Staley Fund aims to increase awareness of heroin addiction and its possible recovery.

The dress code for a punk show has not changed in about thirty years. It is also a very simple one to follow: when in doubt, wear black. Black pants, black shirt, black shoes, black hair, black eyeliner, and a black tongue ring and you're good to go. With the exception of a Dropkick Murphys show in which case green is the new black. The Hollywood Palladium was lit up in green lights which reflected off the Murphy fans' Celtics jerseys fans with a sort of ominous glow. Almost everyone in the place was wearing Boston regalia, be it Celtics jerseys, Red Sox caps, Patriots jackets, and the occasional Bruins jersey. And why not? This was after all the Dropkick Murphys All Roads Lead to Boston tour.

The newly renovated Hollywood Palladium has announced their fall line-up, which begins with JAY-Z on October 15. The rest of their schedule includes Flogging Molly, The Kooks, Of Montreal, Slightly Stoopid, Mudvayne, Gym Class Heroes/The Roots, Rise Against, Dragonforce, Alejandra Guzman, Onerepublic and La Fabrika Del Reggaeton. Tickets will be sold on Live Nation's website starting tomorrow for Rise Against, but all the other shows will be sold starting on September 13, except for JAY-Z on September 5.

Bigmouth couldn't sell out 10 nights? There's no official word if Moz had ticket selling issues or if he's exhausted or has anxiety, or if he just wanted to road trip to Zona to check out the Cubs vs the D-Backs. Either way we have this photo and this explanation via the LA Scumbag: There was a line of people all day long waiting to get into the paladium , I just saw them...

The Ist-community are fans of Ratatat. How could we not be when their album, Classics, is an electro-indie haven. Great guitar riffs, dance beats and sans vocal make it a fun album to share with friends. Our favorite song is Wildcat, and upon first hearing it went around for two days (to the dismay of our roommates) going "Raaarrrr." Followed by tropicana, a slow starting song that would fit perfectly into a movie where a bunch of trouble making teens are walking up a hill to solve a mystery.

We'd like to congratulate Neil for winning The Stills contest. The Stills play tonight at the Henry Fonda with The Land of Talk. If you didn't win, stay tuned, LAist has contests every week for your ass. Here are some other options tonight, a night full of killer live music. Born in LA, Belinda has posed for Playboy, played drums with the Germs, and fronted the first all-girl rock band to have a #1 hit.

The Oklahoma federal judge who was accused of multitasking with a penis pump while conducting court was found guilty and will be sentenced in a few weeks.

Thomas served more than 20 years on the bench in eastern Oklahoma before his retirement in 2004. The conviction will require Thompson to register as a sex offender, and could jeopardize his $7,489.91-a-month pension from the state.
Meanwhile Slate asks the burning question: "Do Penis Pumps Work ?"

What could get Paris AND Nicole to attend the same party? Us Weekly cover-girl appreciation day? George Clooney casting for a new film about heroin? Or was it such a huge event that if you didn't show up nobody would notice? T-Mobile Sidekick threw a bash at the Hollywood Palladium that Mischa, Jessica Simpson, the Duff girls, Travis Barker, Christina Milan, Taryn Manning, and Rachel Bilson waltzed into. Ten bucks they all walked out with new 'kicks.

One of the coolest things (amongst a whole lotta cool) for aspiring artists at DeviantArt's Summit this weekend has got to be TOKYPOP participating in the event. TOKYOPOP, the largest English-language manga publisher in the world, is sending reps to look at portfolios (here's a tip, bring your most recent work, not your old stuff) and editor Lillian Diaz-Przbyl will be part of the "How to Get Published" panel on Saturday.

So far, we's spotted signs for the following:
