Field Poll Says Approval Rating of Legislature at a Sad 13%

That's the lowest approval rating of the Legislature from registered voters in the Field Poll's 26-year history. And that's not the only record broken. He may eat adorable breakfasts, but that's not going to save Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's 27 percent rating, the lowest since he entered office (and a number only found back in 1961 with Pat Brown). But still, he isn't the governor with the worst approval rating, that goes to Gray Davis (22%) before he was ousted from office in a recall election that Schwarzenegger won.

I know this is hardly a controversial opinion. A few years ago, I had the “pleasure” of seeing Ted Nugent open for Kiss. The show was raw, sweaty, and blissfully loud. As the Motor City Madman powered through hit after hit, I was amazed at how much I was enjoying his brand of gloriously primitive bonehead rock. The massive crowd cheered, pumped their fists, and banged their collective heads to the seemingly endless stream...

As just the latest of high-profile California lawmakers to endorse her presidential bid, Senator Dianne Feinstein should add a bit more West Coast mojo to Hillary Clinton's already momentous campaign. The latest poll figures have her up 49% to 24% over Barack Obama in California, and she is leading the field in most other early primary states — though not in the fund-raising department, where Obama is kicking some serious tush. Her latest California...

The California Safely Surrendered Baby Law (also known as the "Safe Haven" law) allows newborns to be dropped off at emergency rooms or fire stations within three days of birth -- without fear of arrest of prosecution on child abandonment charges.

It seems California has been in a constant state of administrative turmoil ever since Enron and their ilk conned and cajoled our legislature during Pete Wilson's term to reform and deregulate the energy laws that for over a century had protected California and guaranteed her thirst for power would be met. We have always suspected a dastardly engineered conspiracy conceived in the still-classified FERC meetings where both Rove and Enron exec Ken Lay plotted the path to throw California in to chaos, wherein Enron would profit and Gray Davis would be ousted mid-term in a recall election. There is no solid proof to verify this theory, but we do know now that Enron ordered plants shut down during California's power shortage forcing her to buy more power from other states (Texas) at highly inflated prices.

As if there's no greater proof that there's a higher power at work in LA, may we draw your attention to the fact that Oliver Stone & David Corn will be conversing about politics tonight 7 PM at the UCLA Armand Hammer Museum of Art, Westwood, while across town four past governors of California will discuss whether California is governable at 7:00 p.m. in the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at the Music Center.

For those wondering what ever happened to former California Governor Gray Davis after he was recalled (and after he appeared in that Yahoo! commercial), he has joined the LA law firm of Loeb & Loeb.

Good news for homeowners: the housing bubble won't burst anytime soon.

Assembly speaker Fabian Nunez (D-L.A.) says that he and the Democrats have reached a budget agreement with the Governor but that recalcitrant Republicans are preventing the plan from going forward. He gives his view on the problem:

The LA Times reported yesterday that Arnold's agreement with the powerful prison guard lobby included tons of concessions and minimal cutbacks. While the Governor managed to delay some pay raises, he delivered a costly new benefits package and more institutional power for the union in return.
