You didn't think LAist would let Fashion Week come and go without at least one interview with a world-renowned designer, did you? Maybe you did. Either way we got one for you. While our interviewee may not be world-renowned, he is definitely renowned among influential fashion plates like bodybuilders, professional wrestlers and football players.

Idol-heads and Runway-heads have a lot to celebrate tonight and I'll be damned, look at how busy the schedule is in the 10:00-11:00pm time frame. Since I don't think any of the options are fantastic is it better to have a little or a lot of mediocrity to choose from?

Now that the writer's strike is on, what will happen to your favorite shows? The LA Times has worked up a grid explaining the future status of shows like "Lost," "Scrubs," and "Battlestar Galactica". The real tragedy here, of course, is that "The Colbert Report" is immediately going into reruns. Heathrow and Chicago O'Hare share the dubious honor of TripAdvisor's Least Favorite Airport: and yes, LAX represents itself nicely at #4. LA Weekly takes...

Welcome to the all fire, all the time edition of Extra Extra! The weather is not expected to abate until tomorrow, and fire fighters are still days away from containing major blazes. The New York Times is liveblogging the fires; they are reporting that over 500,000 people have been forced to evacuate so far (although other reports are estimating up to one million people have had to flee their homes). The Daily News is...

While SFist cringed at the fatal dose of crime littering the Bay Area, it found solace in Hillary Clinton's San Francisco campaign headquarters opening, which featured loads of exposed mammary glands. In other news, SF Taxi Commission ruled that Satan's cab must keep its (in)famous medallion number, 666; and in an un-fashion-forward frenzy, San Francisco Fashion Week (chortle) bars bloggers from covering and getting smashed at their shows and parties, respectively. Also, they found a picture displaying the woes of cruising in a tacky limo on the streets of San Francisco.

I ran across the name Peter Gurnz when trying to figure out which shows in LA's recently past Fashion Week I was going to try and score tickets for. He is the man behind BOXeight Studios, who put together some of the hottest fashion productions of the season, including Eduardo Lucero and Jared Gold's shows. I sat down with Mr. Gurnz to find out what how he was tapped to help bring LA's Fashion Week...

Last night's episode was a repeat of last week's "Black and White" episode in which Vincent Libretti (Woody Allen) and Angela Keslar (Holly Hobbie) return to the competition in a desperate producer gimmicky attempt at boosting the ratings.

by Maeko "Iconic Statement" - Guest Judge: Designer/Icon Diane Von Furstenberg Challenge: To recreate and modernise a look of a fashion Icon (not necessarily a super model). In this challenge, designers who were previously unrecognised or unacknowledged finally get their chance to shine. Another surprise from Angela who is just turning and twisting and coming out with things that you don't expect to come out of a quirky farm girl. Designers clash in the...

The purpose of the event, beyond being “seen” by big names and no-names in both the film/TV and fashion industry (not to mention Extra’s cameras—see picture above), was a book signing for celebrity and fashion nightlife photographer Patrick McMullan’s book In Tents. The book launch aspect of the evening seemed secondary, though, to displays of pervasive and extreme representations of self. But this was a fashion event, after all.
