TV Junkie: MacFarlane to Shill for Microsoft

Looks like "Family Guy"/"American Dad"/"The Cleveland Show" creator Seth MacFarlane is coming through on the idea of a music/comedy variety show. When we attended his "Family Guy" Pre-Emmy party (check out the vids) we marveled at his cabaret prowess an it looks like there were additional admirers at FOX and...... Microsoft? Yeah, MacFarlane will shill Windows 7 as part of the "Almost Live Comedy Show" special as part of an all-Seth MacFarlane night on November 8th. According to Variety, MacFarlane and co-host Alex Borstein "will use what is described as ridiculous and bawdy comparisons to describe what's 'as simple as Windows 7' and what's 'more difficult than Windows 7'" during live-action segments of the show.

TV Junkie: More 'Tosh' To Come; 'Family Guy' Does It Anyway

Tonight is the season finale of "Tosh.0", speaking of which Comedy Central has ordered 6 more episodes of the program - the new ones will start running this October. In terms of shows that feature/spoof web shenanigans, which do you prefer: Comedy Central's "Tosh.0" or G4's "Web Soup"?

I understand every criticism of Family Guy, but I still tune in regularly to watch Peter, Cleveland and Quagmire do the same jokes time after time after time. It just makes me laugh. While Friday the 13th may have sucked completely, at least it didn't wuss out and go for a PG-13. Here's to gore and nudity! With the next Transformers film looming, what better time to piggyback a cartoon compilation and get some free marketing buzz? Why can't Tyler Perry use his prodigious business talents for something other than making crappy movies? Why, Jesus? Why? Why? How have I never seen What's Up, Tiger Lily?? Soon to be corrected.

Seth MacFarlane and Alex Bortstein shared a touching moment onstage at the Ahmanson Theater last week. Taking a short break from the long instrumentals of the Flash Gordon theme song, they trotted offstage together. Upon their return, Borstein wiped her mouth, fixed her hair, and stepped back to the mike...as MacFarlane zipped up his pants.

Can I just say that after giving up TV, I have had a bitch of a time trying to find Family Guy and Sex and the City episodes (which I have recently gotten re-addicted to over the Christmas holiday) online. I found a solution (and something else to get addicted to) – OVGuide.com. OVG is now on my Firefox toolbar – and that's a big deal to me, though maybe not you because you don't know how important something has to be to me to land a spot on that toolbar.

As a devoted fan of , though, is a completely different story.

Listen to the interview here: Bobby Slayton is an icon, he's been doing stand-up for 30 years, everyone in the industry knows him, and generations of us have grown up on his comedy. At his live show the crowd gets warmed up with a video of practically every single well-known American comic, from Don Rickles to Robin Williams, giving props to Bobby. I've been listening and seeing Bobby Slayton perform for 25 years, listening to...

Thursday night I almost invariably turn to NBC - what's gonna happen if we run out of new episodes of our fave shows? I might have to get creative, perish the thought. I apologize for writing the word "fashionistas" yesterday, I also apologize for saying that Kenny vs. Spenny was premiering - what we got last night was a sneak preview, not a premiere, the premiere happens on Sunday.

Emerald City: The how-to-be-green-for-dummies hit Greenopia is coming out with a new edition in a few weeks so don't panic that the first edition sold out.

will wake up everyone who sees it regarding the situation in Darfur.

Those of you who didn't get enough of Death Proof at the theater (and that would be 37 of you) now have the chance to experience Quentin Tarantino's complete and unedited cinematic vision--oh, whatever. Matthew McConaughey almost refused to do We Are Marshall because he thought his character should always be shirtless. Would Carly Schroeder turn 18 already so I can stop feeling so creepy (Kristen Stewart, too). Lucky You deserved better. Daniel Auteuil...

Although South Park is shocking and The Family Guy delivers more jokes per minute than ever thought possible, neither show would be around without The Simpsons, the longest-running animated television series of all time. Part of the show's universal charm and unparalleled stamina is its rich tapestry of lovable characters -- many of whom are criminals and deeply flawed. Somehow LAist got our hands on two movie passes (each pass admits two people), and...

For a tv show thats been around forever, and no longer relevant (some say) thanks to the likes of Adult Swim and The Family Guy, The Simpsons still got it, as evident from the raging success of the various 7/11s that were transformed into Kwik-E-Marts. According to this Fox 11 report people were buying up as much Buzz cola, Krusty-O's, and Squishees as possible. And we also hear that Kwik-E-Mart uniforms are being sold...

Thanks to a boot-licking lead-in from The Family Guy and non-stop promos on Fox, I got suckered into watching last night's debut of The Winner on Fox.

Because it took The Simpsons so long to make a movie might mean that it will actually be really great.

Some called it a disappointment, some called it a success, but last night's airing of the Miss Universe pageant held at the Shrine was the most-watched program in the US among viewers 18-49.

The Museum of Television & Radio’s annual William S. Paley Television Festival – a love fest between the creators and stars of the latest and greatest in TV land and their adoring public – kicks off on Feb. 28 with the cast and crew of Grey's Anatomy.

Before we get into what happened around here last week, we want to welcome Chris and Miwa, our two newest contributors. Chris watches lots of different things and has his own site. Miwa has the most interesting posts about our local environment. This week was all about the animals.

LAist knows this is a few weeks off but you probably need to get your tickets for it now. The cast of "Family Guy" will be doing a reading of classic episodes, giving a live performance from the upcoming comedy album and giving a sneak preview of the first episode of the new season at The Wiltern on April 15th for two shows. "Family Guy Live!" is being produced by Just For Laughs, creators of the Montreal Comedy Festival.
