The Ditty Bops, Abby DeWald and Amanda Barrett, are like perfectly precious paperdolls, and the music they make is nothing short of fresh baked gingerbread. Their fanciful folk harmonies, old fashioned, ragtime-esque melodies, and penchant for the playful are the hallmarks of this utterly unique duo of doe-eyed beauties. With snazzy instrumentation (expect to see a mandolin and a dulcimer), and occasional cabaret moments, these ladies could charm the pants off a prude. In...

Bedroom Walls All Good Dreamers Pass This Way (Baria Records) – The All Music Guide gives this local band a 4.5/5 and says: “"If Elliott Smith were still alive and decided to get together and jam with Neutral Milk Hotel, the results might sound a lot like this self-described ‘romanticore’ quintet.” That’s very high praise indeed. They’re appearing live at the Troubadour on 5/30. Download a demo of “In Anticipation of Your Suicide”
If you listened to KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic today, you caught the Ditty Bops, whose record release party is tonight. Tomorrow the band leaves on tour — on their bicycles. We know bands who've toured tirelessly, and we've known people who've biked across the country. But before now we didn't know of anyone who had tried to combine the two. If you're free tomorrow, we suggest heading to Venice Beach at 10am to wave the Ditty Bops adieu.
• The El Rey hosts Brit sensations Razorlight with The Like and Tender Trio at 7 PM. Tickets are $15.50.
If you won't be joining LAist tonight at the Viper Room to see Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers, here are some other activities that run a close second:
