On Saturday, over 5,000 groups from around the world gathered for the International Day of Climate Action in an effort to bring attention to the Copenhagen Climate Talks ,scheduled for December when the Kyoto Treaty will be replaced (big question, will the U.S. sign it?).

Following up on yesterday's Orange Line Clean-up post, here's a video showing how dirty just one small spot was. Even that black trash bag was found back there. Ick!
The Los Angeles region is a behemoth, but the reality of it is that we are all connected. Garbage left on city streets ends up in storm drains, which carries it to the ocean. The water gets polluted, the animals get poisoned, the people get ill, the beaches close and none of it ends well.
The White House today announced $6 billion in new funding nationwide to accelerate environmental cleanup work. The money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is supposed to create thousands of jobs across 12 states including California, which will receive $62 million.
In a follow up to last weekend's cleanup where decapitated chickens were found, the Los Angeles Neighborhood Clean Up Project has informed us that they are having another Silver Lake event next Monday on Martin Luther King Day, or what is now being called Barack Obama's National Service Day.
