Around 100 people's car tires were slashed over the night, leaving San Pedro residents with an unhappy morning surprise. It wasn't until people gathered at a local tire store that they all began to figure out what happened. Police are not sure exactly how many people were victimized, but one person is quoted in a Daily Breeze report saying they were "inundated" with calls.

It's just the new reality. Regular gas ia averaging at $4 a gallon in Northern and Central California. In the Los Angeles area, it's $3.902, "which is another record and 50 cents higher than a year ago," Mark Lacter noted at LA Business Observed.

According to a new study by David Strayer, a psychology professor at the University of Utah, talking on a cell phone while driving can make a person drive up to 2mph slower that other drivers, the LA Daily News reports.

I have just spent the last two weeks researching and cataloging every single Thai restaurant in Thai Town. I have driven up and down Hollywood Boulevard more times than a horny john. I have eaten every kind of Thai food. I have eaten boar, crunchy frog, durian, horrible purple salted crab and some things I cannot even pronounce. So this morning I finished my last graveyard shift for the weekend, and with some relief, I realized I didn't have to go back to Thai Town for the the rest of the week. I am going to take a Thai hiatus and let the other posters rock the curries. I pulled into the 24-hour drug store on the way home for some trashy magazines and ice cream to enjoy on my little Thai-free vacation. I was so tired, I realized only at the very moment that I slammed the door that the keys were in the ignition. I never do that. Fuck.

I like to consider myself a green person. I mean every time I leave the house I ask myself if my destination can be reached without a car, which is why I find myself riding a bicycle/subway/bus often. However I always come across others who are gung-ho about nascent eco-trends (drives a Prius, shops only at Whole Foods), who are so caught up in Green Commercialism that they never stop to evaluate its benefit for themselves. You're not positively contributing to the environment just because you drink Fiji water! Oh, and as a side note, the transport of one bottle of Fiji water to your local grocery store burns 1 kilo of fossil fuel, 27 kilos of water, and generates 1.2 pounds of greenhouse gases.

With a weekend 3-game sweep of the elderly San Francisco Giants under their collective belt, the Dodgers (4-2) open their regular season home schedule at Dodger Stadium this afternoon against the Colorado Rockies (3-3). Occasional car nuts that we are, LAist couldn't be more stoked about the big event this weekend. Mid-Wilshire will be crawling with genuine hot rods all this weekend as part of the 75th anniversary of the '32 Ford, affectionately known as The Deuce. The Petersen Automobile Museum will be the focal point for all things Deuce-ish all this weekend, as 750 of the Fords are expected to turn out for what is certainly to be the largest such gathering in recent memory. Fords have been rolling in all week and many of them will be taking up residence on the second floor of the museum for an exhibit lasting through March 20th.

When Mr. Williams took his new Corvette into a Nor Cal dealership for a simple antenna repair, he had the foresight to imagine an employee taking his whip on a speedy joyride. For that reason, he instructed the dealer not to drive his Vette off the lot. Well one employee did anyway. And not only that, he spun it out on a turn at high speed while doped up on Codeine, causing over $15,000 in damage.
