Old Man Vs. Garden Grove Police Officer

78-year-old Mong Kim Tran does not like getting pulled over. Via the Daily Breeze, here's the craziness that took place last week: "When he was told he was getting a speeding ticket, Tran came within three inches of the officer's face and began screaming... When the officer told Tran to back off, Tran took a fighting stance, and struck the officer twice with a closed fist and then kicked the officer in the groin... The officer pushed Tran back to the ground and handcuffed him. Tran sat on the curb while paramedics responded. As more officers arrived, Tran again stood up and kicked the officer in the groin."

Serial Assault Suspect in MacArthur Park Area Sought by Police

Police have found that a man with a similar motive and description is approaching young girls in an attempt to sexually assault them after enticing them into apartment buildings. The most recent attempt was partially caught on a security video (embedded below).

Chris Brown Publicly Apologizes for Rihanna Assault

It was Grammy night here in Los Angeles when police responded to an incident between Rihanna and Chris Brown. The saga, full of speculation and controversy, was dragged through media and courts, eventually leaving Brown with five years of probation. In a YouTube video posted today, he apologizes. "I have told Rihanna countless times, and I am telling you today, that I am truly sorry and that I wasn't able to handle the situation both differently and better.. I hope that others learn from my mistake. I intend to live my life so that I am truly worthy of the term 'role model,'" he said. The full video is below.

Two Reported Shot at Angels Stadium

According to CBS2/KCAL9, two people were reported shot at Angels Stadium. The Anaheim Fire Department said a call of two people shot in the parking lot at Angels Stadium came in at 10:26 pm. Anaheim police are confirming reports of an assault but nothing else. According to ABC7 it was an officer-involved shooting. No officers were injured.

No Jail Time for Chris Brown, Enters Plea Agreement

A couple hours before today's trial, R&B Singer Chris Brown entered into a plea agreement for pleading guilty to assault while the criminal threats charges were dropped. Under the agreement, Brown will do six months of "community labor" (that's 1400 hours of work), serve five years probation and take a year-long domestic violence prevention class, according to the LA Times. He will also have to stay at least 50 yards away from Rihanna except at industry events where it will be set to 10 yards.

LAPD Arrests Taxi Cab Driver for Sexual Assault, Looking for More Victims

It was last month on May 17th, 2 a.m. when a 31-year-old female hailed a cab in front of Ecco in Hollywood to grab a ride home. Armen Ayvazian was her driver, according to the LAPD, and when she got home, he allegedly followed her inside where he sexually assaulted her. Detectives caught up with the North Hills man last week and arrested him without incident. But police believe there are more victims out there and if you recognize him (a photo of his cab is below), give the police a call.

New Orleans earned the unfortunate top city ranking in crime, according to a Congressional Quarterly book based off 2007 statistics from the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting Program. Los Angeles came out at 158 on the list of 385 cities analyzed for murders, rapes, robberies, aggravated assaults, burglaries and car thefts reported to the FBI. Combining Los Angeles with the rest of the county dragged the ranking down to 66 on the Metropolitan areas list. They also listed the "Greater LA" area, which ranked 99th.

Sleazeballs are still using that shtick of telling women that they could be models and if they take photos with him, he's got the connections to get them with the right industry people. Last week, the LAPD arrested Miguel Angel Barrera, 44, of Chino Hills, for doing just that and taking it one step further by sexually assaulting the women during the photo shoots. From an LAPD notice:

Christian Bale, who plays Batman in the Dark Knight, was arrested today in London for allegedly assaulting his mother, who made the complaint to police. Bale came to the police station "by appointment and was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault. He currently remains in custody," explained The Guardian. By appointment? "It is understood that although the police were aware of allegations on Monday, they allowed the actor to attend four press conference and the evening premiere of The Dark Knight in Leicester square."

David Crown, 30, was arrested yesterday in Reseda for allegedly having repeat sexual encounters with a 14-year-old boy from Thousand Oaks. Sgt. Don Aguilar told the Associated Press that "Crown has known the teenager for about a year and has taken the boy to his San Fernando Valley home 'for the purpose of engaging in sexual acts.'"

Sometimes going to a Dodger game gets to be more than a spectator sport, especially when team rivalries are enacted in the stands.
