TV Junkie: Rest In Peace Karl Malden

We're saddened to hear of the passing of Karl Malden who made it to the ripe old age of 97. While many people will remember him for his roles in Streetcar Named Desire and "The Streets of San Francisco" we urge you to check out his work in Baby Doll, Patton, Fear Strikes Out, and The Cincinnati Kid. Turner Classic Movies will have a tribute evening of films on Friday, July 10th, starting at 5:00pm Pacific.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Netflix has struck a deal with CBS and Disney to distribute their content over the internet after their original air date. Do they really think that Netflix will do a better job at this than Hulu? C'mon, why can't we centralize the content a bit more instead of forcing us to deal with your different delivery methods and interfaces.

A Word or 4 dozen : Somehow I totally missed posting that the Shield was on last night and again it was good. I think one would be hard-pressed to find more raw and compelling performances on any other show available on the networks or basic cable. Being a former SF resident, I haven't been able to get enough of Conan's broadcast from the Orpheum theater on Market Street- too bad that's still bum-junkie...
