The Red Hot Chili Peppers @ The Roxy, 11/13

For over twenty years the funky white boys from Fairfax High have been delivering the goods with their band the Red Hot Chili Peppers and last night at the Roxy for a super secret show to launch Microsoft's Zune media player, it's almost as if they were playing to each other.

In fact, before one tune they improvised at all the bands that they had seen over the years at the Roxy. Typically the Chili Peppers could be found at much larger venues like the Palladium or the Forum, but on this very special evening it was the homeboys going through many of their newest tunes as well as a few chestnuts.

We'll have more details soon in a proper review, but since we had some video, we figured we'd share.

Besides, Atlanta launched the so-called iPod killer with rapper TI, Seattle had The Secret Machines which included a visit from Bill Gates, NYC got QOTSA, Chicago rocked out with Lupe Fiasco, and Miami got the Morgan Heritage Band - so since LA got the biggest and best band we had to represent with some video love.

Frusciante's hair! It's gone :'(

sound like fun - first record release show at roxy (1984?)won't be forgotten - still have a day glo tumbleweed from the show somewhere in the garage...

incredible show- surreal even. and there was an open bar!

Thank you so much for the tickets. Possibly the greatest show i've ever been to. They rocked so hard . It's still kinda setting in.

So who were the winners? I did not recieve an email so I didn't get to rock with everyone. I am bummed.

wooow great videos .. john's hair .. xDD

Yes, as LA Scumbag said, thank you for the tickets. :D Much fun was had.

I was one of the lucky winners. I feel like the luckiest person in the world today. I want to send a HUGE THANK YOU out to the Tony and all the staff at the LAist for making the biggest Peppers' fan in the world dream come true. I am sitting here shaking in disbelief as I type this. I will forever be a visitor and a proponent of this site. Thanks again guys.

Noo =( hir beautiful hair!! It's all gone =(

omg, this is great! I miss Johns hair though :( Hes still a babe anyway! :) Cant believe Im goin to see them in January!

greeting from chili ! lantin american !!

Wow, what a....shock! O_O

If you don't mind, I linked this particular page from my website.

As one of the lucky winners, let me say Thank You. The bf and I ended up just one person away from the stage with Flea within arms length. Too bad I don't take advantage of open bars on Monday nights anymore.

It really was a cool show. And you just can't beat a completely open bar, not to mention free parking in Hollywood and some album sized giftbox from Zune that I haven't even opened yet. Thanks Bill Gates. I love my iPod, but free booze and free Chili Peppers is certainly the right way to get me interested in your product.

the hair is gone!!!!

There was free parking??? I thought that was just reserved for the paper ticket holders. I skipped the free drinks -- I like to keep my head clear when in the presence of Microsoft -- but free parking would've been sweet.

(Although, despite that oversight -- it was a sweet deal.)

John still looks great. Even without the hair. Maybe the pictures don't do him justice, but he was so (last night).

My hairless angel rides again. Wish I was home in LA, but the show here in Grand Rapids on Nov. 2nd kicked ass so I cannot complain too much. Look forward to the full review!

ahhhhhhhhhh what happened to john's hair aaahahhhhahahahaa

john shaved his head!?!?

I wish I could have been there - I hope they come back to NY. PS: Awww John... love the shaved head.

I like John always changing his look. And when I see him at the end of January his hair, in my opinion, will be at the best style at that time. . .not to long or short. . .he can do no wrong

red hot chili peppers lo mejor de lo mejor
