Amtrak Alternative to Arriving at Angel Games

Anaheim Amtrak station

Anaheim wants to front and claim that they're LA, and it's cute. So lets give a little love to the easiest way to get from downtown LA to The Angels Stadium of Anaheim: a real train.

Amtrak says that it takes 41 minutes to get from Union Station to the Big A parking lot, but it feels more like 31, especially if you sit down to a quick can of Bud in the bar car ($4).

Tickets aren't cheap -- $11 each way -- but the ride is smooth and comfortable and you can drink as much as you want on the train, in the parking lot, and once you get into the stadium.

The above photo is from the air-conditioned station in the Angels parking lot. Which is equipped with a television to watch the last few outs as you wait for the bar car to take you back home.

LAist was reminded that comfort and environmental consciousness isn't always the most inexpensive path, but sometimes it helps you keep your buzz on. And the bonus is, any time you get to spend even a few minutes in Union Station, you've lucked out.

Factoring in gas and parking, $22 round trip sounds at least comparable if not cheaper overall than driving, aside from the value of no traffic.

Solid.
