It’s a Bird…It’s a Plane…It’s Veronica Mars

veronica mars.jpg

May isn't just a television sweeps month, it’s also a do-or-die time for shows “on the bubble.” Those shows have a 50-50 chance (or less) of getting renewed by their networks. It’s an especially precarious time for the shows on the WB and UPN because those two networks are merging to become the CW in September, so all the old shows can’t possibly fit on the prime time schedule.

While we’re kind of hoping that more WB shows like Everwood and Supernatural make the move, we have to admire the tenacity of Veronica Mars fans.

The Mars-heads recently sent LAist a media advisory about what they’ve been doing lately to save their show, which focuses on Kristen Bell’s teenage detective: They’re donating DVD sets to libraries and sending Veronica Mars-inspired shirts, care packages and flowers to the CW’s head honchos.

But watch the skies over LA and Burbank on Tuesday for the group’s piece de resistance: They’ve hired a plane to tow the not-so-subtle banner: "RENEW VERONICA MARS! CW 2006!"

Since we like their spunk, we’re going to overlook Bell’s awful “Fame” song and dance routine at the Emmys last year and wish them the best of luck.

This is the best show on TV right now. It needs to come back.

Veronica Mars is the best show I saw all this season. It HAS to come back. If 7th Heaven can come back, there is NO reason why Veronica Mars shouldn't.
