AM news: fade in

goodtimes.JPG

Fade In: Homeless shelter - The co-creator of "Good Times" is living in the Bell homeless shelter. He once had an NAACP award and a 4-bedroom house in Taraza, but that was before the crack and strokes. Now he's got a laptop and 30 scripts; he tells the LA Times, "I'm never that far away from a blockbuster hit." We're thinking he should pitch his life's story — before the LA Times writer who found him does.

still playing: Mayvis Coyle - The 82-year-old who got a jaywalking ticket when she couldn't make it across a Sunland street in time is still in the news. In Canada, Australia, Japan and England and across the US. She's back in the Daily News, which broke the story; the paper reports that they've gotten many letters angry at the LAPD officer, like this one from Georgia: "Instead of holding up traffic and helping the old lady across the street, this big shot gives her a ticket?!"

just extended - TiVo wins $73 million in its patent infringement lawsuit against EchoStar (Dish TV). TiVo lawyers had said the decision was "life or death."

newly restored - On Santa Cruz Island, the first bald eagle chick has hatched in 50 years. The bird's parents came from Catalina; naturalists have been working to bring eagles back to the area, which is contaminated by the harmful chemical DDT.
