According to multiple reports, USC Basketball Head Coach Rick Majerus will resign after less than a week on the job. This answers the lingering question we all asked about Majerus: "But what about his health?"

While Rick Majerus is a brilliant coach, we all knew he was a weird guy. It was a bit suspicious that less than a year after leaving Utah for health reasons, that he was going to be well enough to coach USC. But we all believed he'd take this year off to get well again.

Now, USC would be well-served to take their time in finding a new coach. Trojan basketball remains a sleeping giant, as a new arena is less than two years away, and the athletic budget has risen considerably. But any coach available right now is probably washed up. USC should just wait and see how Jim Saia finishes the season. If they don't like what they see, then the Trojans can start looking into the Paul Westphals or Mark Fews of the world. There are plenty of other deserving assistants at top schools that might turn out to be a good fit.

In the meantime, Rick Majerus has probably cost himself any coaching job in the near-future. Who is going to want to hire someone that might bail on you any time?
