Gonna get controversial here and say that of the 88 cities in Los Angeles County, no one else knows how to party like West Hollywood. The great city of West Hollywood has been throwing its annual Halloween Carnaval since 1987, and the celebrations have grown steadily over the past three decades. This year will have multiple stages of entertainment, the crowning of a Carnaval king and queen, and—of course—thousands of elaborate costumes.

"I'm amazed each year by the imagination and talent that go into creating elaborate and inventive costumes,'' West Hollywood's cool Mayor John Heilman said in a statement. "The joy of the crowd is palpable and the celebration is a wonderful testament to the city of West Hollywood's creativity.''

The annual Carnaval will fill Santa Monica Boulevard between Doheny Drive and La Cienega Boulevard with costumed revelers, and if you aren't planning to attend we respectfully suggest you stay the hell away from West Hollywood. Traffic will likely be a nightmare, with some street closures scheduled to extend until Wednesday morning (the Carnaval officially runs from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.).
