Lakers Will Glam Up the Court in Black 'Hollywood Nights' Jerseys

Finally, the sports-fashion news mashup you've been craving. The Los Angeles Lakers have announced that for next season, they will sometimes wear spiffy new black uniforms for games, and those uniforms even have a name: "Hollywood Nights."

Apparently, it was we the people who asked for it: "The organization has consistently heard from fans that a black uniform was desired, and have been working to make that a reality for years," explains the Lakers' official site. Since the Lakers love their fans, they obliged by creating what they are calling a "cool alternative" to the regular uniform.

No worries, the purple and gold (and white) is here to stay, and still remain THE colors of the Lake Show.

The Lakers also explain that the whole "Hollywood Nights" thing has a lot to do with one of their biggest fans, court-side sitter Jack Nicholson, as well as the little people, aka "the huge number of people that work behind the scenes to make up one of L.A.'s biggest industries."

Here are some initial reactions from the cheap seats which illustrate that when fashion comes into the sports arena, positive reviews include words like "sick" "dope" and "tough."
