BYOP(illow) to Pershing Square on Saturday afternoon, March 22nd because it's time to have some fun. It's World Pillow Fight Day and the LA Burners are hosting the downtown, transit accessible, event. And yes, there are rules:

  • Soft pillows only!
  • Swing lightly, many people will be swinging at once.
  • Do not swing at people without pillows or with cameras.
  • Remove glasses beforehand!
  • Wait until the signal to begin.

The event, which is more fun with feathers, is free and they say appropriate for all ages (no ass kickin' the wee little ones). Bored LA, who tipped us off to this event has a facebook page dedicated to the event.

Sister site to the north, SFist, has coverage (video below) of this year's Valentine's Day pillow fight. So far, no word on the city revisiting it for March 22.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our connected community. We are free to tell the full truth, to hold power to account without fear or favor, and to follow facts wherever they lead. Our only loyalty is to our audiences and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen our community.

Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive before year-end will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
