Now Kobe Says He Wants to Stay

kobe bryant now says that after speaking to Phil Jackson he wants to stay

Is Kobe on drugs? Should he be following Lindsay Lohan into rehab?

We ask because after repeatedly talking to media outlets everywhere, and after telling Stephen A. Smith that the Lakers have lied to him and aren't interested in making the Lakers champs again any time soon, he just called into KLAC and took back everything saying that wants to stay.

Claiming it's "his" team and that after a long, emotional talk with coach Phil Jackson, that he has changed his mind about the Lakers.

"I don't want to go anywhere, this is my team,'' Bryant told KLAC radio. "I love it here. I called Phil, man, he and I talked, it was an emotional conversation, but he just said, `You know what, Kobe? Let us try to figure this thing out.'

"Phil is a guy I lean on a lot.''

Some three hours earlier, in an interview with ESPN radio, Bryant said: "I would like to be traded, yeah. Tough as it is to come to that conclusion, there's no other alternative. It's rough, man, but I don't see how you can rebuild that trust. I just don't know how you can move forward in that type of situation.''- AP

How you can have a serious meltdown the way Kobe is having right now, despite having someone as grounded and clearheaded as Phil Jackson to lean on, is troubling. The Lake Show should cancel this nonsense, pronto.

There are plenty of stars who would take a pay cut to be a Laker, let alone The New Laker Star.

Get rid of the cancer, clean away the stench that will be left behind, and set the table for serious players who want to win on the greatest stage in the NBA.

If only you knew what it was like to be so good but be held down by those you must depend on ...

are you retarded? get rid of the cancer? the one thats been with us for ten years, helped bring us three championships, and put up with all the buss shit? Keep Kobe, send buss to jail for the DUI.

STOP DRINKING THE KOOL-AID, PEOPLE!!!

you're smokin some serious crack rock homie...
kobe is far from being a cancer, and the lakers would look even more retarded then when they got rid of shaq, if they were to actually try and trade off kobe...
dude's obvioulsy frustrated with the current situation and deserves some solid support. the lakers front office should nut up and give it to the best fuckin player in the league.

Thanks for uploading this, it gave me something to read on my lunch break.

I'm not the biggest Kobe fan, but if all this bs gets something done. Then I have no problem with any of it. Winning cures all, get a legitimate 2nd option to pair with Kobe and all the bickering goes away.

pierce, give it up. You're just wrong. You can call kobe a lot of things, but he WANTS TO WIN. that's all he's ever been about. he's a samurai. The lakers crappy front office has failed him, he reacted, end of story. Kobe Rules.

This writer is obviously just a Kobe Hater...I suggest that LAist finds a new Laker writer...we get enough Kobe bashing over at the L.A. Times already. In fact...maybe it's Tony Pierce who is taking J.A. Adande's spot at the Times. What a non-talented joke of a writer...
