Prince 2 Play 7 LA Summer Nights?

prince live in hollywood for 7 nights throughout the summer at the hotel roosevelt?

In what could be the finest form of stealing from the rich, the Artist Formerly Known as being far more comfortable touring outside of the US, could be setting up shop a block away from Hollywood & Highland for a royal residency.

The LA Times Buzz Bands blog says the details are being ironed out between the purple one and the increasingly relevant-again Roosevelt Hotel.

The string of shows is scheduled to start in mid-June, about a week after the 49th birthday of the man born Prince Rogers Nelson.

What the plans call for: On seven Friday nights starting June 15, the Roosevelt will close off its lobby at 9 p.m. Then, at 11:30 in the Blossom Room in front of 250 seated guests and an undetermined number of standing-room-only patrons, Prince (joined each week by special guests) will give a two-hour performance. At 2 a.m., Prince's private chef will take over the kitchen of the Roosevelt's Dakota restaurant, which will morph into an after-hours dinner club. As part of a jazz ensemble, Prince will entertain diners until 4 a.m.

The Purple One is obviously still giddy from having his first #1 Album in the US in 14 years, 2005's 3121, his amazing Super Bowl halftime performance in the rain, and selling 140,000 tickets in London in 20 minutes.

How much could the prices for the Roosevelt go for? Seeing as the ones in the 1,000 seat Social concert is costing people about $3,000, and since Prince loves the number 3121 (the tickets for 21 shows in the UK went for 31.21 pounds, they changed the name of the club he performed at this year at the Rio in Las Vegas to 3121 with ticket prices starting at $31.21, and he just came out with a 3121 perfume), and seeing as there are probably a few thousand people who would pay $3,121 for a night of Prince - food - and Jazzy Prince... it seems like he's gotta sell them for that price.

Prince, nothing compares 2 u, but for $3,121, fuck off.

i was lucky enough to see prince twice during his vegas stint. on ticketbastard, after all the fees, it was about $150 a ticket. not bad for seeing prince in vegas.

but since i'm not an expert in the music biz, i don't know how crazy the prices will be for his hollywood gig. prince coulda asked for a much higher ticket price in vegas but chose not to, so let's hope he keeps it cool in LA as well.
